Kent Jnr confident in Charm Stone and Reserve Bank for The Goodwood

Michael Kent Jnr is fully aware of the challenge posed by Giga Kick in The Goodwood but believes his duo are well-prepared for the race.

Kent Jnr, who trains alongside Mick Price, will saddle up two recent winners, including Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes winner Charm Stone, a significant victory for the stable.

“It was a really satisfying win,” Kent Jnr said.
“There’s a lot of pressure on mares like that. A, it costs a lot of money, but B, she’s shown Group One talent all the way through.”
“She was a one-time Blue Diamond favourite, one-time Coolmore favourite, and she’s had a few hurdles to climb, but I’m really proud of the team.”

Kent Jnr is confident Charm Stone can handle the weight of 56.5kg, despite the competition. He’s also optimistic about her second-up performance, noting she’s in great shape since her last run.

Meanwhile, Reserve Bank, a $10 chance, is another strong contender, having won his last two starts, including the Group 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes.

“He’s in really good form, very fresh and well,” Kent Jnr said.
“As a colt, he’s definitely matured with the trips away.”

Ben and Jamie Melham will ride Charm Stone and Reserve Bank, respectively, replacing Mark Zahra who’s committed to Giga Kick.
