Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou will roll out another key three-year-old contender at Rosehill with King Of Pop to resume in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) on Saturday.
The Black Opal Stakes winner hasn’t raced since finishing second to North England in the Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) in April.
Co-trainer Sterling Alexiou said the colt’s two trials, particularly his Canterbury hit-out last week, have left him well prepared despite Sydney’s recent wet tracks.
“His second trial was really good and it was good to get that sort of trial into him after they were pushed back a bit,” Alexiou said. “He has a pretty solid foundation for his first-up run now. He’s come back really well.”
Stablemate Blitzburg will miss the San Domenico after pulling up sore from the Rosebud and is being aimed towards the Heritage Stakes (1100m).
Meanwhile, Grand Eagle is expected to resume at Kensington before stepping up to races such as the Ming Dynasty and potentially the Golden Rose if his form warrants.
