King’s Gambit scratched from the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes

Last start Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) winner King’s Gambit has been scratched from the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, over the same distance, to be run at Flemington on Saturday.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained three-year-old by I Am Invincible was withdrawn on veterinary advice on Friday afternoon after the colt was found to have an elevated temperature.

King’s Gambit, who placed in the 2022 Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), was on the third line of betting with bookmakers at $8.50 for the Derby Day highlight.

The James Cummings-trained Cylinder is the $4.40 favourite and Shinzo, with James McDonald aboard, is at $5.

Earlier in the day, Rediener was scratched from the $10 million Golden Eagle (1500m) to be run at Rosehill where Perth visitor Amelia’s Jewel is the $4 favourite with betting sites.
