Kylie Gavenlock hoping Cream can Rise at Gosford

Four Pillars hopeful Cream Rises will be out to make a winning start to his campaign on Wednesday, as the midweek metropolitan card heads to Gosford.

The four-year-old is only lightly raced, winning two of his three starts, including a 4.85 length demolition job at Gosford on debut.

The son of Fastnet Rock was sent to Sydney in just his third start, running a luckless fourth prior to his spell.

The Four Pillars was announced just prior to the drawing of The Kosciuszko tickets and boasts a $700,000 purse for Midway-trained horses.

The feature follows the Kosciuszko modelling, with 18 slots held by ticket holders across New South Wales.

His trainer Kylie Gavenlock hopes a win on Wednesday can get Cream Rises into the $700,000 feature race on October 30.

“Hopefully this is the start of a prep that we can maybe get a run in a race like the Four Pillars,” she said.

“He’s come back a bigger, stronger horse. He’ll probably get a little bit of ground this time in.

“Those upper-middle class stables got missed out a fair bit by the TAB Highway’s.

“I think it’s a good thing they’ve tried. ”

Cream Rises has trialled twice in preparation for Wednesday’s first-up assignment, most recently finishing behind Group Three Sydney Stakes winner Trumbull.

The four-year-old will jump from barrier nine in the Vinery Handicap (1200m) with Glen Boss in the saddle and will carry the minimum weight of 54kgs.

Gavenlock said the son of Fastnet Rock has limitless ability.

“If he keeps improving, he could turn out to be anything,” she said.

“It’s just little steps at this stage and let him go through his classes, but I think he’s pretty handy.

“He’s come back a bigger, stronger horse.

“He’ll probably get a little bit of ground this time in.

“He’s going really nicely, I’m really happy with him.”

Cream Rises currently sits on the third line of betting as a $4.80 chance, with the John O’Shea-trained Quantico the early favourite at $3.10 with tab.com.au.
