Chris Waller will have two mares in this year’s The Everest after Lady Shenandoah was confirmed for the $20 million race on Monday.

The four-year-old will race in the Fairway Thoroughbreds slot, becoming the sixth horse locked in for the October 18 feature, alongside stablemate Joliestar.

Owned by Hermitage Thoroughbreds, Lady Shenandoah adds another elite runner to the Waller arsenal.
“We are thrilled to see Lady Shenandoah gain a spot in this year’s Everest,” Hermitage Thoroughbreds manager Shannon Clarke said.
“It’s a race that captures the imagination of the racing world and to be represented by a mare of her calibre is a great honour. We’re also incredibly grateful to Fairway Thoroughbreds for their support and confidence in Lady Shenandoah.”

The daughter of Snitzel is already a triple Group 1 winner, claiming the Flight Stakes, Surround Stakes and Coolmore Classic.

She resumed with a luckless second in the Concorde Stakes and will tune up in the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley.
