Lim’s Kosciuszko set for Flemington debut instead of The Goodwood

Former Singapore trainer Dan Meagher had hoped to debut Lim’s Kosciuszko at The Goodwood in Adelaide.
However, the horse will instead begin his Australian campaign in the Listed Straight Six (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.
This race will provide Meagher with insight into where Lim’s Kosciuszko stands after a stellar Singapore career, with 22 wins from 29 starts and one start in Hong Kong.

“I think I should lower my sights a little bit,” Meagher said.
“Going to The Goodwood would have meant an 8-hour trip there and back.
“It was a proper Group 1 race, a good field, and he would have been having his first Australian run.”
Meagher added that while Lim’s Kosciuszko was in peak form last year, the horse’s age prompted him to reconsider the tough Group 1 challenge.

A race up the Flemington straight is a new experience for Lim’s Kosciuszko, who was walked to races in Singapore.
To prepare, Meagher has given him three jump-outs, two at away venues.
“I don’t think the straight will be a huge negative,” Meagher said.

Lim’s Kosciuszko is also entered for the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup (1300m) and Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) in Brisbane later this month.
