Scenic Point has maintained her unbeaten record with a dominant win at Caulfield, leaving the Lindsay Park stable eager for the spring.
After a strong debut victory at Pakenham, Scenic Point stepped up to the Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1100m) and proved too good for her rivals.
The $1.40 favourite settled at the back of the small field and cruised home a length clear under Daniel Stackhouse.
A protest was lodged by Jye McNeil, rider of Aleppo Pine ($3.90), against second-placed Mednyi ($15), but stewards upheld the objection after review.
Will Hayes, speaking on behalf of Lindsay Park, noted that Scenic Point showed more focus than on debut at Pakenham.
“She got a little bit hot in the pre-parade, which was a little bit different to Pakenham,” said Hayes. “She’s certainly waking up and is on a big learning curve. What she did today was on raw ability, and there’s plenty of upside.”
Plans for the filly will be discussed, with Hayes suggesting Scenic Point could be aimed at Sydney or rested for a spring campaign.
“She screams three-year-old type,” Hayes said. “She’s shown she can sprint, and she might get out to a middle distance as well.”
Further discussions will determine the next step for the promising filly.
