Lindsay Park split pair at Flemington

Entered for two races at Flemington, Lindsay Park has been able to split stablemates Think ‘N’ Fly and Biometric into separate races.

In their wisdom of not trying to deny themselves success, Lindsay Park has decided to separate Biometric and Think ‘N’ Fly at Flemington.

Both horses were nominated for The David Bourke (1600m) and the Brian Beattie Handicap (1420m) with the stable opting to run Think ‘N’ Fly will run in the former while Biometric needs a scratching to gain a start in his race being first emergency.

Tom Dabernig, who is in his final days of training under the Lindsay Park banner, expects Think ‘N’ Fly to be hard to beat on Saturday with Damien Oliver aboard.

Think ‘N’ Fly finished fifth to Biometric at Caulfield on May 29 and has improved out of the run, his first since January.

“He’s come on from the other day and Ollie knows the horse quite well,” Dabernig said.

“I think it’s a good time for him over winter and he seems alright on any surface, so I think he will be competitive.”

Dabernig said the stable elected to keep Biometric at the 1420m journey and again call on the services of Harry Coffery who guided the gelding to his first Australian victory at Caulfield last time out.

“He had a wind operation and he’s been performing well at that trip so we didn’t want to get too experimental,” Dabernig said.

“It’s an open handicap and the other thing with him is he’s better on a good track rather than a soft track.

“But he’s deep into the prep and if it’s a soft 5 or a soft 6 we might get away with it, but I think he’s definitely a better drier track horse.

“Heading deep into winter might be a bit of a problem for him, but he is a last start winner and everyone seems happy with him.

“Our thoughts were that Flemington can dry out quite well, and if we’re ever going to get a reasonable track, it should be there.”
