Mac ‘N’ Cheese, who is owned by micro-share syndicator MyRacehorse, gave her countless owners a reason to dream of Group One glory on Saturday at Morphettville, with the filly winning the listed Claire Lindop Stakes (1600m) in dominant fashion despite copping a heavy bump in the straight.

She put the writing on the wall with a strong victory first up over 1200m and had no issues making the jump to a mile, with co-trainer Tony McEvoy suggesting the filly would be better over further post-race.

“It’s against her pedigree a little bit, she’s a sister to a Group One sprinter (Exceedance).”

“To my eye she never really travelled, she looked to be at her top throughout. Everything about her to Calvin and I has been a mile and above. Everything about her tells me she’ll love 2000m of the Oaks.”

In what will be Tony & Calvin McEvoy’s last Adelaide carnival as local trainers before relocating permanently to Ballarat, Mac ‘N’ Cheese can lay claim to the number one local seed for the Oaks, but she’ll face stiff competition from interstate.

The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jr trained Daisies was an impressive winner of the Group Three Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night, with Price revealing Adelaide is on the agenda.

“She’s set for the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville. We think 2000m is ideal for her. J-Mac rode her in the VRC Oaks (2500m) and she didn’t quite get it.”

Mark Zahra, who rode Daisies to victory, was full of praise and said “she’s nearly too good to go to Adelaide. Find something in Sydney! She’s flying and Mick has got her going really well.”

The Australasian (S.A.) Oaks will be run on the 30th of April, the first day of the four-week Adelaide carnival.
