Following the announcement of official nominations, TAB has opened ‘All In’ markets for the Australian Guineas on February 27 along with the TAB Australian Cup and Newmarket Handicap on March 6.
The Team Hawkes-trained Ole Kirk – victorious in the Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas last spring – is the $6 favourite for the Australian Guineas at Flemington ahead of New Zealand gelding Aegon and Ole Kirk’s stablemate North Pacific (both $8).
Reigning Cox Plate champion Sir Dragonet and last November’s Mackinnon Stakes winner Arcadia Queen are the $6 equal favourites for the TAB Australian Cup at Flemington while Caulfield Cup heroine Verry Elleegant is an $8 chance.
The Chris Waller-trained September Run – triumphant in the Coolmore Stud Stakes on Victoria Derby Day last year – is the $6 favourite for the Newmarket Handicap at Flemington ahead of last year’s winner Bivouac ($8).
Bivouac also won the Darley Classic in devastating fashion on the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
TAB has opened ‘Pre Nominations’ markets on the C.F. Orr Stakes (February 6), Black Caviar Lightning (February 13), Oakleigh Plate and Futurity Stakes (February 20) as well.
