Race 8             Number 14     Barthelona

Race 9             Number 10     Al Galayel

Race 1

With the scratching of Sixties Groove it now leaves CROCODILE ROCK very hard to beat. Crocodile Rock had very good form last preparation against quality opponents and ran well here three weeks ago over 2500m that was his first run in almost 11 months. He should get the punters off on the right foot. Serenade The Stars now looks the next pick coming off a strong winning run here over this trip three weeks ago.

5 – 7 – 4 – 6

Race 2

PREZADO The one to toss coming here nice and fresh off a five month break. He has never won first up but all his runs have been A-grade. Last time here he raced here over the flying 1000m he beat Bandipur who he again meets here albeit it was back in November last year. Invincible Al will be the one giving a start but he will charge hard late.

6 – 3 – 4 – 1

Race 3

ZAIDIN was very good last start being his second up run after a long break and with further improvement here can step up. Sergeant is two from two albeit out of town but he looks a nice type from the Godolphin yard. O’tauto debuted with authority at Cranbourne and must be respected while Ruban Bleu was ok last start in a sit sprint affair and from gate one will be in the mix.

12 – 11 – 2 – 5

Race 4

MARIQUITA has had two runs since coming down here to Victoria and both have been full of merit. The step up to 1400m is ideal and she represents good value. Bellaria just failed last start when powering home and a three week freshen up looks nice. Spanner Head is a horse I have always liked and she falls into the nice and I think the drop in distance will help.

5 – 7 – 8 – 4

Race 5

GOLD MAG has certainly created a big impression with two dominant wins firstly at Bendigo on the heavy then at Sandown on the soft. Fleming ton will be a good track which is a little query but he does look a nice horse going places. Illumicon cruised to an impressive win at Sandown last start and looks to be major threat here to the favourite.

11 – 12 – 6 – 18

Race 6

HARIPOUR rocks up here off a four week break having had three runs back after having a year off the racing scene when coming from Europe. He steps up to 2000m which will help as he is already a winner up to 2600m. He just needs a nice genuine speed to enable him to wind up. The Statesman is another Weir runner who after three runs back from a nine month spell should be ready to fire. Orakei Overlord just has to maintain his consistent to be thereabouts and with the claim he can run a cheeky race.

13 – 5 – 10 – 4

Race 7

James Cummings and Godolphin seem to have worked out the type of imports they need and how to get them ready and here we get to see the highly touted HOME OF THE BRAVE. He has trialled particularly well twice in Sydney and looks ready to run a bold race. Early betting suggests we are on the mark and he will be in the mix. His main threat looks to be Voodoo Lad was awesome first up winning the Sir John Monash and never stopped trying when outclassed by Vega Magic last start. He is quality and if there is a chink in the armour of the top one he will find it.

1 – 2 – 10 – 7

Race 8

BARTHELONA is racing in terrific heart and is two from two at the Flemington 1400m and on the limit weight I expect he will be right around the mark. Theanswermyfriend is fitter for two runs back and now gets a race he should be able to settle in the first two giving him his chance. Moss ‘N’ Dale and Night’s Watch are certainly capable of being in the spoils.

14 – 6 – 1 – 10

Race 9

The lack of speed here throws a spanner in the works but I think AL GALAYEL is the one that can adapt and give a sight. He returns here after a run in Sydney where he went to keenly. Back to 1700m also looks a bonus. Mantastic has an awkward gate and the speed against him but he is a handy horse that is well placed here.

10 – 6 – 5 – 13
