Miss Danni keeps Kingston winners coming

Mornington trainer Robert Kingston doesn’t often head to the city with his horses but when he does travel it’s worth taking notice.

The last two horses Kingston has taken to the metropolitan area have recorded victories.

Midas Man won a 2040m race at Moonee Valley earlier this month while Miss Danni scored a strong win in the Chandler Macleod Handicap (2100m) at Sandown on Wednesday.

Backed from $16 to $13, Miss Danni, under Dwayne Dunn, ran down the leader Ashlee Marie ($6.50) to score by 1-1/4 lengths with Aurora Miss ($11) 1-3/4 lengths away third.

The victory of Miss Danni was Kingston’s 12th from his past 50 runners on metropolitan, country and picnic racetracks.

Now in her second staying preparation, Kingston says Miss Danni will enjoy getting out to a longer journey.

“She’s quite a good filly and I thought more of her than Midas Man that has won his last three in a row,” Kingston said.

“He’s on a steep upward curve and hopefully she is also.

“Dwayne had never ridden her before and I said she can go anywhere, forward or back, and is a pretty straight forward filly.

“She’s also tough and very sound which is the main thing.

“I’m having success at the moment with horses that would run on concrete and this time of year is the right time for them.”
