Dan Morton’s Ascot carnival prospects continue to rise after My Authoritah scored a hard-fought victory in the Lawn Pride Australia Plate (1400m).

The Playing God gelding made it two wins from as many starts this prep, following his Belmont maiden success with another determined effort to hold off Country God and Saam Time Lucky.

“He’s a real nice Playing God,” stable manager BJ Ryan said. “You saw more of what he’s capable of and hopefully he can continue elevating as he progresses.”

Ryan confirmed My Authoritah will be set for the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m), noting his determination and first test at 1400m were encouraging signs.

Morton’s carnival team also includes King Of Light, a promising Earthlight colt with two strong runs to start his career, while Objectify earned another chance at 1600m after providing the second leg of Morton’s training double on Saturday.

Jockey William Pike starred with four winners on the program.
