Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald are hoping wide barriers at Rosehill will work in their favour, especially with heavy rain predicted.

The team has several runners drawn wide, but Archibald is optimistic that worsening track conditions will benefit horses on the outside.

“We’ve got a lot of sticky gates. Hopefully it pours and they come down the outside,” Archibald quipped.

Seven of their 11 confirmed runners have drawn wide, including two for the Baillieu (1400m), with Tupakara in the best position at barrier six.

Tupakara’s fourth-place finish behind Golden Slipper placegetter Tempted and winner Marhoona is an encouraging form reference.

“That’s worked out quite well, hasn’t it?” Archibald said. “She’s going to be second-up on Saturday and will improve.”

Tupakara, a daughter of Trapeze Artist, is still developing both mentally and physically, but Archibald believes she’s on track for a bright future.

Next Jen, also drawing wide in barrier 11, will start after winning on debut at Newcastle. I Am Overs, with the outside gate, may wait for another race.

Quietly Arrogant is the only Golden Slipper runner backing up in the Baillieu.
