Caulfield has historically been a favourable venue for Ole Dancer, and training partners Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman are optimistic the four-year-old mare will rediscover her winning touch this Saturday.
It has been nearly a year since the daughter of Ole Kirk secured the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield. Despite a varied performance record since then, the stable is confident she can be a significant contender in the Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m).
“I am really looking forward to seeing her back at that trip,” Coleman stated.
“With a few runs under her belt, I think we can see (her best) and she loves the Caulfield track. She is definitely and is looking for that 1400-metres.”
Ole Dancer’s prior outing saw her finish seventh in the Listed How Now Stakes (1200m) on September 19. While this broke her unblemished Caulfield record of two wins from two starts at the track, a parallel can be drawn with the 2021 Weekend Hussler Stakes winner Kahma Lass, who also had a similar midfield finish in the same lead-up race.
Blake Shinn will partner Ole Dancer, having previously won this race with Jimmysstar in 2024. Shinn’s other rides at Caulfield include the leading contender Blind Raise in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m), Evaporate for the Hayes brothers in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m), and he retains the ride on the 2024 Melbourne Cup champion Knight’s Choice in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m).
