Ole Dancer out to emulate sire’s success in Thousand Guineas

Ole Dancer will look to follow in the footsteps of her sire Ole Kirk by claiming Group 1 glory during the Caulfield Cup Carnival.

While Ole Kirk captured the Caulfield Guineas in 2020, his daughter will line up in Saturday’s Thousand Guineas (1600m) for trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman.

The filly, owned in similar interests and colours to her sire, heads to the race after finishing a narrow second in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Sandown last month.

“She’s prepped up really nicely for it,” Coleman said.
“It was a shame she got beaten last time, but if you look at the positives it was the ideal prep run for getting out to the mile on Saturday.”

Coleman said Ole Dancer had improved with each start and drawn well to settle closer in the run.

“She’s pretty adaptable if the rain does come,” she said.
“She’s OK on soft or firm. We don’t want it to be a road out there, but not too wet either.”

Rival Sydney filly Apocalyptic, unbeaten this prep and fresh off her Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) win, adds intrigue to the contest.
