Victorian filly Oohood has shed her maiden status on racing’s biggest stage, winning the Group One Flight Stakes at Randwick.
In spite of earning more than $1 million in stakes going into the race, Oohood hadn’t been able to win in nine starts for trainer Tony McEvoy.
But in overcoming a wide barrier for jockey Tim Clark, Oohood landed the $500,000 race in a blanket finish that included the placegetters Fiesta and Nakeeta Jane as well as the favourite Miss Fabulass.
