O’Shea and Charlton gear up for spring with star-studded Randwick trials

John O’Shea and Tom Charlton are set to roll out a host of their spring hopefuls at Randwick trials on Tuesday, following a standout first season as co-trainers.

Their partnership delivered three Group 1 wins thanks to Linebacker in the Randwick Guineas, Schwarz in the William Reid Stakes, and Maison Louis in the Queensland Derby.

They also secured seventh place in the Sydney trainers’ premiership with 37 metro wins.

“All the horses raced consistently throughout each period of the season,” Charlton said.

“We had three Group One winners over a range of distances… that’s a credit to the staff and the processes.”

Linebacker headlines Tuesday’s trials, resuming in a 900m heat.

“He is probably the flag bearer,” Charlton said.

Stakes mares Snow In May, More Territories, and Roselyn’s Star will also step out, alongside emerging three-year-olds like Scoop The Pool and O’Sheamus.

Quietness, runner-up in the Grafton Cup, is being aimed at the Metropolitan.
