Ryan Maloney and Baylee Nothdurft have surged to the top of the Brisbane jockeys premiership table with trebles at Doomben but both have had their momentum checked by suspensions.
Maloney finished Thursday on 38 winners after scoring on Schweid As, Breakdance and Emerald Kingdom before being suspended for eight days.
Maloney pleaded guilty to causing interference on Jay Curve at the 500m mark in the three-year-old maiden.
His suspension is listed to start on Sunday night and finish on February 10 meaning he will be back in time to ride Alligator Blood in the C S Hayes Stakes in Melbourne on February 15.
Nothdurft rode Pull Anchor, Westham and Zouvilla to win to take him to 37-1/2 for the season.
He pleaded guilty to using his whip more than the permitted amount before the 100m on Zouvilla in the last race.
As it was Nothdurft’s third charge under the rule he was suspended for five days starting on Saturday week.
In the closest premiership race in five decades Maloney and Nothdurft lead the injured Jim Byrne (37), Robbie Fradd (35-1/2) and Stephanie Thornton (34).
