Prestige Ole looks to extend winning streak in Anzac Day Stakes

David Brideoake and Matt Jenkins are aiming to continue their successful run with horses bearing the “Prestige” name, as Prestige Ole lines up for his third consecutive win in the Listed Anzac Day Stakes at Flemington on Friday.

Prestige Ole has made impressive strides, claiming his maiden victory at Ballarat on March 7, followed by a narrow win over 1400m at Flemington on March 29. Now, he’s aiming for his first Stakes victory.

Despite a four-week break between runs, Brideoake is confident in the colt’s progress. “He worked on Saturday morning over 1000 metres on the course proper and I think he’s continued to progress,” Brideoake said. “His recovery was fabulous, and my feeling is pretty good with him.”

Brideoake is already planning spring campaigns for fellow stablemates Prestige Forever and Prestige Snitzel and hopes Prestige Ole will join them.

“At one stage I thought he might have to go out for a spell, but he’s gone the other way,” Brideoake said. “I’ve stepped it up and he’s come up to match it.”

Ben Allen, who rode Prestige Ole to victory at Flemington last time, will again take the reins on Saturday.
