Rachel King has been one of the busiest jockeys this season, and the travel doesn’t look like slowing anytime soon.
After making history in Japan as the first woman to win a Grade 1 race with Costa Nova in the February Stakes, the UK-born rider has been darting between Sydney and Queensland through the winter.
“It has felt like a long carnival going up and down every week… it was mixed results this year but it can be like that,” King said.
She celebrated a Listed win at Eagle Farm last weekend aboard The Inflictor for Craig Cousins, who only has a small team.
This Saturday, King returns to Rosehill with eight rides, including two for Godolphin.
Tarpaulin resumes in the 50 Year and Life Member Handicap (1100m) and shapes as a top chance after a strong 3YO campaign that included a fourth in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes.
She also partners Contemporary in the Listed Winter Stakes (1400m).
King heads back to Japan mid-month for another month-long stint, but her sights are set on spring—and a reunion with Sydney Cup winner Arapaho.
