Race 1

1 –2 – 9 – 4

We haven’t seen LEGISLATION since a solid win on debut in the Kirkham Plate and having drawn a perfect barrier here and a very good barrier trial he will be hard to toss. Skyray turned in a very good effort on debut in the Wyong Magic Millions when coming from a long way back to finish second to Jonker. He’s drawn poorly but he is sure to appreciate the big Randwick track. Secret Lady has very good form and Gary Portelli has kept her up to the mark with a sharp barrier trial victory a week prior to Xmas. Fearless Girl is on debut for Waterhouse and Bott and she has to be respected having won both her barrier trials.

Race 2

2 – 3 – 5 – 1

I have always had a good opinion of SASSO CORBARO since seeing her at the trials earlier this year and although she raced well at her first campaign she is a different and more rounded girl this time in. First up she was ultra impressive winning at Hawkesbury and I see no reason why she won’t take another step here even though the opposition is tougher and she has drawn the outside barrier of five. Epidemic in my eyes is the only threat as she was solid in winning last start at Rosehill a month ago and should get a perfect run.

Race 3

4 – 6 – 5 – 3

Found this race very tricky to work out but elected to side with NEW UNIVERSE who should settle about fourth or fifth and have one shot at them in the run home. It’s his first crack at the mile but with a small field and the more I watch his replays this time in he looks as though it’s a distance he is looking for. Hunter Jack is the value runner for mine as he will likely stalk the leader Dreamforce and with no weight and now being fit following two runs back he should keep finding in the run home. Liapari and Dreamforce could both get the money without surprising. Dreamforce will lead and with only 51.5kg is sure to be hard to get past.

Race 4

8 – 2 – 3 – 1

I reckon if PENDELOQUE has any luck in the first furlong from the tricky barrier she will take a stack of beating. She resumes here off two barrier trials and with no weight this filly that has form around Viridine looks very well placed. I have nothing between the top three Junglized, Kennedy and Equal Balance with whoever gets the luck will be the hard to toss.

Race 5

2 – 6 – 4 – 3

I think it’s a two horse race but with Brave Song $1.85 and Flow $3.8 they are too far apart in the market meaning I’ll side with FLOW at the better value. Flow was outstanding last start when beginning awkward and having to work early yet was only run over late. He drops back to 1200m but looking at the speed map and from gate 2 I think he can settle handy and be there for a long way. Brave Song is obviously hard to beat as the price suggests and he comes here off a barnstorming win first up at Canterbury when doing it with ease. He won’t be far away as he is a promising type.

Race 6

9 – 1 – 13 – 5

TAKOOKACOD is racing in terrific vein and should again be a player here having drawn soft and with a light weight. The step back up in trip will suit and the speed should be solid without being mad and if the breaks fall her way she can charge late. All Stand comes through the same race as Takookacod behind Victorem and looks on paper like he could lead here and if that happens he will give them plenty to chase. Acquittal looks a handy horse in the making and is sure to appreciate the extra furlong here second up. If he gets a nice tempo he will charge and be in the mix.

Race 7

1 – 8 – 5 – 6

MUSIC MAGNATE is the class runner and will need to be a class above this lot as he will lump 61kg and will start from a widish barrier in nine of 11. He resumes here and has trialled smartly on two occasions and with even luck I think he can account for them. Supreme Effort prepared by Kim Waugh who’s stable is on fire resumes here off an 11 week break. Two recent trials have been very smart and they should have him ready to fire. Eckstein will likely get back but she will be motoring at the end of 1200m. She is a pretty smart mare who is capable of running well here.

Race 8

6 – 3 – 14 – 7

Looks a tricky race on paper but keen to back ZOURKHAN each way at the good odds following his first up effort when second here behind Sedanzer which followed a very impressive barrier trial. He has drawn perfect so he should lob straight into a nice spot. Gambler’s Blues is low flying at present and must be given plenty of thought especially the way he is relaxing and finding the line. Chatelard is a promising type and will improve following his first up run when he ran out of room late. Hogmanay has top weight and class on his side but he needs to jump cleanly as he has been slow away every time of late.

Race 9

10 – 1 – 2 – 7

SUGAR BELLA had almost 500 days off the scene before resuming in awesome fashion when winning at Canterbury. She was then heavily backed at Randwick before dumping the jockey and having a drama prior to her next start. Kris Lees has given her time to get over that and with a nice weight here and a map where she should be just back off the speed she looks a major player. Anatola was most impressive last start and from an ideal gate could easily do it again even allowing for the fact she goes up 4.5kg to the hefty impost of 61kg. O’Rachael finished second to Anatola last start and although beaten just over a length does meet her 2kg better and is sure to strip fitter with that run under his belt.
