Race 1

7 – 8 – 5 – 9

7 Fiesta was most unlucky on debut when third in the Gimcrack after drawing awkwardly. She has trialled since and looked as though she had taken good benefit from the debut effort. The wet track is obviously a query with all these youngsters. Godolphin has two chances but I think their leading player is 8 Gododdin who showed good race sense when winning a recent barrier trial.

Race 2

6 – 1 – 7 – 4

Chris Waller has the two leading chances to my eye with the top one 1 Sambro and the highly touted 6 Kaonic. Not many horses do what Kaonic did last start when he lost all his momentum at about the 500m but was still able to pick himself up and chase down the leader. Sambro was super last start when his rider let him slide too early and was only beaten in the final few bounds. The good gate here will make sure he’s a player.

Race 3

3 – 14 – 11 – 1

3 Kooringal Star is first up for 30 weeks having not raced since the Albury Guineas but has trialled very well in preparation for this and from a perfect barrier he should be able to position up in a good spot. 14 Rekindled Force created a good impression winning on debut when forced to cover some extra ground but showed some grit to hold on. No weight and from a good barrier should mean he’ll get his chance.

Race 4

3 – 4 – 1 – 5

3 Admiral Jello has been going terrific and turns up here off a four week freshen up following a super second to Auvray in the group 3 Colin Stephen quality. From a good draw he should tag Social Element and give the favourite something to run down. 4 Alward has won four of past five starts and is hard to beat again but he comes here off a hard slog win last time out and this will likely be a bit more sit and sprint. The drop in weight of 4.5kg is certainly a big plus.

Race 5

9 – 3 – 7 – 10

Going for a bit of value here as I think 9 Dagny will get a perfect run from a soft barrier tagging a good tempo with King Darci, Improvement and Peacock all expected to roll forward. Dagny is third up so should be ready and with the rain around it will only enhance her chances as will the step to 1400m.

Race 6

4 – 1 – 5 – 3

I am in the corner of 4 Albumin at the moment but if the rain continues it will certainly hinder his chances. His runs of late have all been full of merit and from gate one and a fair tempo I thought he could stalk and have last look here at some value. 1 Single Bullet is all quality and would only need to repeat his last start second behind Viridine in the Roman Consul to be hard to beat. He will race on-pace and handles all surfaces.

Race 7

3 – 2 – 4 – 6

Going with the class of 3 Daysee Doom even with the fact she is dropping back from the mile to 1200m in only a fortnight. She has drawn perfect and should be able to tag a fair tempo and with a rain affected track is just might bring the six furlong horses back to her a bit. Her stablemate 2 Dixie Blossoms falls into the same category but is likely to be giving a bigger start but she is sure to charging hard late.

Race 8

1 – 3 – 9 – 2

1 Zenalicious turns up here out of a good race behind Dixie Blossoms and Daysee Doom and if she gets speed on she could easily blow her rivals off the park. She has drawn poorly and is likely to go back but she does posse a very sharp sprint. 3 Hogmanay looks value after blowing the start last time out before charging early in the straight before the early effort told. A senior rider goes on and if he jumps well he will give a good sight. 9  Mapmaker will jump and roll forward and only has to run up to any of his past five runs and he is a player.

11 – 10 – 7 – 13

I am waiting all day for my best with 11 New Universe from the Chris Waller stable with Jason Collett to steer. He is a winner of four from six career starts and turns up here fresh from a 20 week break. There looks fair speed with Sweet Serendipity who should roll along while Isorich, Noble Joey and Tudor shouldn’t be far away. New Universe has trialled twice in readiness but has done so well within himself. His stablemate 7 Zumbelina looks one of the main threats along with 10 Crafty Cop.
