Race 1

3 – 9 – 1 – 2

SIR OWEN looks a nice colt with a pretty good future and he is clearly the one to beat today but he will need to do things right. He got a mile back in his trial but when wound up he found the line powerfully to finish second with the smart The Autumn Sun back in third. The Snowden camp has added blinkers to help him on his debut. If he is to get beaten it will be by Sunsuzie who was pretty good on debut when a close up sixth in a handy 2yo fillies race here three weeks ago.

Race 2

8 –3 – 2 – 4

As someone who was on SEASONS  four weeks ago it’s been hard  doing the form and watching the replay where she should have won and won clearly when pipped by Copy Boy. Les Bridge has taken his time with this filly and given her a nice barrier trial to keep her ticking over. She cruised to victory in that trial and I think if allowed to wind up today she will run over them. The danger if there is one looks to be Mascot who resumes here off a five month break but more importantly as a gelding. He is sure to be ready to rock ‘n’ roll with three barrier trials and from a good gate he may well lead and give a kick.

Race 3

1 – 2 – 3 – 4

SOLO MISSION created a big impression when in Australia on debut earlier this month when accounting for Bastia who was able to win in impressive fashion last Saturday. That win was off raw ability as he was far from ready. He has raced since and looked a little flat which can happen second up after a long break. I am sticking with his class and saying he is the one to beat here. The stablemate Mazaz loves Warwick Farm having won two from there here and is sure to be amongst the spoils again from an ideal gate. Plymouth Road was good here finding the line from well back off a solid tempo and with only a small field here he is sure to be charging late. Mornington gets blinkers for the first time so don’t be surprised with a sharp improvement in his form and if he settles closer.

Race 4

4 – 5 – 7 – 9

CORMAC last start beat his stablemate Smiling Manolito a pimple who subsequently was well beaten in a far lesser grade race at Kembla yesterday but I still think this fella has a few more wins in store. Stepping back up to the mile and from barrier one he should enjoy a perfect run and I think at good odds give you a sight. The favourite Sweet Victory is obviously hard to beat coming off a dominant win last week at Hawkesbury when she started a short-priced favourite. She will likely get a perfect tag from her good gate and be amongst the spoils again. Verlan destroyed her opponent’s last start at Newcastle albeit there wasn’t much behind her in way of quality but that aside her win was impressive. It’s a step up to this race but she must be kept safe as a major player. Palmateer will get back and could be the one at big odds finding the line.

Race 5

8 – 1 – 3 – 5

The speed is out so the Waterhouse/Bott runner Penske gets comes back into play as he should settle handy to the speed if not in front. His last start win at Mudgee in the Gooree Cup was full of merit when he looked in trouble for a few strides before clicking into gear and winning in good fashion. I still have DESERT LORD as my top selection who is coming off a very good run here two weeks ago when charging from the back to be beaten on a half length by the leader Kurnel Jackson. The only concern is he stays at the mile and there doesn’t look much tempo but I think as long as Brenton Avdulla can stay in touch early he will be too strong late. Nathula strips fitter for his first up run at Kembla and with the step to the mile he must be considered a player. The runner that interests me is See The Master who has raced twice in Australia and comes here off a two month freshen up. Perhaps watch the betting on him.

Race 6

7 – 9 – 2 – 1

SOOTHING is first up and has drawn the second outside gate but if the luck falls her way she should be able to charge over her rivals here. She has very good natural early speed but he best runs are when she can be held up and allowed to work into a race before unleashing her impressive turn of speed. Empress Matilda looks the main threat and she will likely settle in the first two or three making Soothing’s job that little bit tougher. Nic’s Vendetta and Misery are the other two on-pace runners who are capable of giving plenty of cheek.

Race 7

5 – 2 – 1 – 11

I have nothing between the favourite Inquiry and BOMBARDIER who I have put on top due to the batter value. Bombardier is first up for ten months but he should be ready with two solid barrier trials. He is a big unit and will likely take plenty of benefit and will appreciate further distance but with Blake Shinn doing the steering if he can settle just on the back of the speed they will know he is there in the run home. Inquiry is a winner of three from eight career starts the latest a dominant first up effort win at Hawkesbury. She goes up 2.5kg and will have to run an extra furlong in trip but he has come back in good order and will be in the firing line for a long way. He’s A Given is huge odds but is capable of running a cheeky race first up especially having drawn a perfect gate. Red Zephyr and Thrilled look the other two winning hopes.
