Trainer Michael Trotter believes veteran mare Rumbled Again is in the best shape of her career as she returns to racing this weekend.
The rising eight-year-old resumes in Saturday’s Victorian Jockeys’ Association Trophy (1410m) at Flemington, with Trotter aiming to collect more Black Type success.
Rumbled Again claimed her biggest win in last year’s Group 3 Summoned Stakes at Caulfield and has come back from a break looking stronger.
“She’s come back bigger and stronger, which is amazing for an eight-year-old mare,” Trotter said.
“She’s in the best condition and the best headspace I have had her in and she’s loving her work, which is awesome.”
Her autumn campaign was plagued by setbacks — a slip at the start at Caulfield, a vet scratching in Sydney, and a serious gash suffered in the Golden Mile at Bendigo.
She also impressed when finishing fifth in the Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley.
After two jump-outs, most recently at Cranbourne, Rumbled Again will be ridden by Harry Coffey.
Trotter has the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) in September in his sights.
