Race 1

I think we get the money early, with the BEST WIN BET of the day 2 TUMBLER. She’s a serious horse who looks to have the measure of her competition here. She was put away after not handling the Eagle Farm track at Group 2 level during the winter carnival. Her main danger 1 IRISH CONSTABULARY has to contend with an outside gate which wont be easy for 3kg claiming apprentice Step Lacey to navigate. 7 LIVE FAST is the one from the remainder of the field that, can beat the favorite, he’s the one. Should get a gun run from the nice gate and will be in the finish.

Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 5

Suggestion: WIN BET 2 TUMBLER

Race 2

A ratings band 0 -70 race here , which has tossed up a difficult field to dissect. 1 SAGAMAMA comes back to 1200m after a 1350m & 1400m run this preparation. I prefer this horse over this trip, especially at this track where it can settle off the speed and rattle home. D Browne rides this track well, and at the Each Way price it does appeal here. 10 MUDDY ROPE & 14 MR BON VIVANT have been competitive in their age & class, but step up here. Both look to have the ability to be in the finish. 3 SILIQUA has won stronger races than this, but prefer her at the shorter trips.

Numbers: 1 – 10 – 14 – 3

Suggested Bet 1 x 2 Each Way 1 SAGAMAMA

Race 3

Another difficult race here, with 15 runners facing the starter. Going for some value here with 3 TOP TONE at double figure odds. His consistent type whom races on speed and his rarely far away. He has been competing in tougher races recently, and was a forgive last time out when wide and working on speed in the Eye Liner behind MONSIEUR GUSTAVE. He should be on speed here and will give a great sight. 7 BANDA SPICE, 9 BUSHY & 10 SPUR LE JOUER to round out the minors.

Numbers: 3 – 10 – 9 – 7

Suggested Bet: Each Way 3 TOP TONE

Race 4

Expecting them to run along quickly early here, with plenty of speed runners engaged. 13 RED HOT MISS could be the one from off the speed that can get home over top of them late here. She ran 2 very impressive races last prep, before returning from a spell over 1200m, where she hit the line well. Fitter here second up over 1200m with a good tempo, she is a really nice chance. Keep an eye on the fluctuations of 1 BRING IT HOME POP late in betting. It was well-supported win winning last start, it will be interesting to see if the confidence levels from the stable are as high here. 3 SAXTON ROCK fought on well last start and can race well again here.

Numbers: 13 – 1 – 3 – 4

Suggested Bet: 1 x 2 Each Way 13 RED HOT MISS

Race 5

I finally settled on 3 STEAMIN and 2 ABOHAR but both were withdrawn this morning making it a ‘go to the bar’ race. It has now left me with one down in the weights that I think is over the odds 13 HIGH DEGREE. The Smith team is low flying at the moment and this horse was super in winning her last 2 starts. I think it will finish in the top 3 here with a touch of luck. 9 BIANTIC was strong winning at the Gold Coast last start and the step up to the mile is an added bonus. Will carry no weight with the claim for Jag Guthmann-Chester. Outside these two you could throw any of nine others in.

Numbers: 13 – 9

Suggested Bet: Small play on both 13 and 9

Race 6

Not much between 4 STELLA OMBRA & 7 BEAT STREET for me here, leaning slightly to 7 BEAT STREET at the each way. Travelled well behind a hot speed when sprinted too sharply for his rivals first up at Doomben. Track, gate and distance all ticks in a suitable second up assignment here. 4 STELLA OMBRA back to 1200m on a wet track here is a big plus. She trucked down to Sydney 2 back, winning a BM78 on a Heavy 10, then travelled to Rockhampton when beaten 2.8L over 1300m in the Newmarket. Conditions suit here, and will be in the finish. 14 OUR STORY, 6 BARNSEY can fight out the minor prizes.

Numbers: 7 – 4 – 6 – 14

Suggested Bet: Each Way 7 BEAT STREET

Race 7

The 3200m QLD CUP at Listed level, what a slogging go this will be! Honestly have no confidence here. Chris Waller has the likely favorite and leader in 5 RICHARD OF YORK. 2 starts back he led and was only touched off late, in the 3200m Stayers Cup at Randwick. His likely to adopt similar tactics here, and be hard to run down. 4 MY DIAMANTINE has been consistent through out the winter carnival, and is the main danger. She ran second to Supply And Demand last start, which has since won the Grafton Cup. 9 QUARTERMASTER will sty the journey, and is the value hope for the trifecta players. 1 EMERALD CITY for fourth.

Numbers: 5 – 4 – 9 – 1

Suggested Bet: Only if we are well in front early on… a place bet 9 QUATERMASTER at + $5

Race 8

Keen on this one Each way at Double figure odds, 10 PUBLISHING POWER. He looks the fresh horse on the scene and one on the up. Last preparation ran into the likes of OUR BEE BEE & NICCONOVA and acquitted himself really well. He was produced first up over 800m at Ipswich, where he was allowed to find his feet early, before balancing up and dashing home late only to just miss catching the leader. He ran some very slick time that day, and on the nice spacious track here, will be the one flying down the crown. Plenty of respect for 1 SUNDANCE, 2 OINK who have their fair share of class and ability, and look to get good runs here.

Numbers: 10 – 1 – 2 – 3

Suggested Bet: Each way 10 PUBLISHING POWER

Race 9

Hoping we are well in front by the last, Tough race to finish, and it will be vital to understand how the track is playing as we get late in the day. 10 MISS DUBOIS has transferred from Patrick Payne to Matt Dunn and is big watch. Melbourne form was solid for a race such as this. 11 NATURAL BLACK didn’t get a lot of clear galloping room in a very similar race to this last time out. Drawn to get a soft run again here, hopefully the son of a gun Luke Dittman can get him out in clear galloping room and can blow them away. 3 EXPAT ENVY was good last start and a little firmer track will also help.

Numbers: 11 – 10 – 3 – 7

Suggested Bet: 1 x 2 each Way 11 NATURAL BLACK
