Race 1
7 DEITCH looks the one that maps the best here, and the market seems to agree. As much as $7 bet early, it’s been well supported into $4. The horse is 3 wins from 31 starts, but has been very close to winning his last 2 in the grade, gets his chance here. I would have had 16 JADEDFOX on top here, only for the wide gate. If he gets an ounce of luck from the gate, can win. 13 DRIVING WHEELS & 10 GREAT MOGHUL both race off speed and with genuine tempos can run home into the minor money.

Race 2
Last chance for the 2YO to win some QTIS prize money, and it should be a fast run scamper. Not a lot of confidence here, but leaning to 5 CABEIRIAN. This son of snitzel was well fancied on debut back in January of this year. He raced well, finishing fourth on that occasion. He has since been gelded, has drawn to get a nice run and has trialed well for this.

DISCLAIMER I have ownership in 2 SAIPAN. We do like his chances in this, and we think he is a very good Each Way chance. He should settle forward of midfield and will be hard to hold out late. The horse to beat is 1 MISERY who should get the run of the race from the gate. 4 LIVE FAST has a tricky gate to contend with and is one that will need luck from the gate.

Race 4
Really open staying event, I can make a strong case for 2,3,4,6,7. Of those, I can entertain 3 ANTON EN AVANT at $12. Really like the way it found the line last start, and the step to 2000m here is ideal. Last time he was here at this track and distance, he ran a very good third, beaten 1.1L behind Emphasis. That’s good enough to go very, very close here.

DISCLAIMER I have ownership in 18 NOVATIVE. We expect him to settle back in the field and hopefully pass a few up the straight. He’s an out and out stayer, watch for him over 2000m + here in a few weeks. 2 LASCAR was a good effort making ground from the back on a slow speed last time. He’s had 2 runs back and should be fitter and ready to race on speed here and be hard to hold out. 15 SWEET ADALINE was good the last start and is a definite chance here. 8 PINOLINO will race on speed and will be in it for a long way.

Race 6
The Ben Currie will be looking to secure the QLD Training premiership with 3 REAL MYSTIQUE, who looks the safe Each Way play here. She came from well back in winning the Rockhampton Guineas 2 starts back, before racing on speed and winning comfortably at Toowoomba last time. She’s drawn well in Gate 2 here to get a nice run in transit. She’s tough and will be in for a fight. 9 BERGERAC was impressive winning at Toowoomba the last start and looks like a horse that will relish the mile. Stable mate 5 RHYMING is consistent
and should be around the money. The Lindsay Hatch team has 8 WINNING KISS going well, a top 3 finish wouldn’t shock.

Race 7
7 MEET AND GREET was good first up over 1350m and gets to the mile here which is very suitable. From the nice draw, I expect him to race to close to the speed and be very hard to get past in the straight. 1 EAT MY TRUST looks to have a little bit of these all things being equal, but she will have to overcome the wide gate and the 2.5kg weight rise to 59kg. She was super impressive winning from an almost impossible position and will need an equally good steer again from Matt McGuren.

Race 8
OPEN Class race, and it’s definitely a wide OPEN affair! Think the Sydney visitor 1 OXFORD POET has the racing pattern that suits here. From a low draw, he looks to lead and make his own luck on the speed, and looks hard to beat. 4 INZ’N’OUT hasn’t won for almost 2 years, but has contested harder races than this since that win. The race looks very even with the locals, not in great form, and a couple of rising 10 yr olds engaged. I think the top weight is the safe play here.

2 OINK hit the line well last start off a short freshen up, over the unsuitable 1000m. Steps up to the 1200m here, with a nice draw he should be able to settle a little closer and be hardest to beat. 4 PUBLISHING POWER was impressive winning last time if he had drawn a better barrier he’d be the on top selection. Just a little query on 1 PRIORITISE on the 7 days back up and back in trip from 1350m to 1200m. His run looked like a horse that would prefer 1200m, just query if the dash is out of his legs after a fair first preparation..11 OF THE DAY with the right run can figure in the money.

17 BACKSLAPPER enjoyed being back to 1200m with an all the way win the last start. Steph Lacey retains the ride, and the horse carries 2.5kg less here than last time. I was on 2 MARKSFIELD at the big price the last start, when he was inconvenienced at the start, causing the saddle to slip and the horse charged forward and over raced before tiring late. It was a forgive run, but he is on the7 day back up here off that and back to 1200m. 18 AGAPANTHA has drawn to be right on speed, down in weight and a definite chance. Off the 4 selections in the race, he looks the one over the odds. 19 NEPTUNE PALACE is racing really well, and they over cook the sped up front, he can be getting home hard late.
