Race 1

 

A 2YO race to kick off the day, and while the market will give us an indication of the confidence levels of the unraced, I’m keen on the chances of 1 HOPES ETERNAL.  He was super impressive winning first up in the Pat O’shea Plate, it would take an above average horse to beat him here.

Race 2

9 GOLDEN COMMAND circled the field and was narrowly beaten by subsequent Metro winner PINCH PASSION last start.  1 MISHANI BULLET seemed a bit one paced when placed at the mile last time, drops 3kg on that effort with the claim here. Leaning toward 9 GOLDEN COMMAND at the bigger price, should be a safe EW play.

Race 3

9 MANNDAWI hasn’t won for a long time, but if the track stays in the SOFT range, he gets his chance here. He’s rock hard fit, and should race on speed and be in the finish. 10 DON’T DOUBT DA WIFE is also a leading chance, ahead of 4 NO ANNOMOSITY, who will likely find the gate a little difficult to overcome.

Race 4

If the track stays in the SOFT range, I’m happy to give 10 GIRL IN A MILLION another chance. She led and was ran down at the Sunshine Coast last start, she was on the inside section of the track early in the day, and I’m not sure that was the place to be early in the day.  She will lead again here from the good gate, and is worth something 1×2 Each Way.  If the rain arrives and the track downgrades into the HEAVY range, 3 LIVE FAST definitely comes into calculations. He is a dead set swimmer, and would be a great chance

Race 5

**Firstly the disclaimer, I have a share in 14 NOW YOU SEE.  Fairly obvious intent here with 14 NOW YOU SEE taking the 3kg claim, she will be sent forward to either lead or sit outside the leader. I think she is under the odds, and hard to recommend a bet with the step up in class.  With the track in the SOFT range, 10 NILETTE is the horse to beat, will race handy from the gate and loves the soft track.  2 JETSONIC is the one that will be flashing home late, and I think it represents good Each Way value.

Race 6

**Disclaimer again here, I have a share in 9 MUSTARRID who almost stole the race last time with a bold front running effort. Similar tactics will be employed here, hence the booking of Tegan Harrison, who is good at rating frontrunners.  9 MUSTARRID will be on speed and hard to beat here. 4 EXPLOSIVE ONE is the danger and represents good value at the price.  He should have won the Lismore Cup last start, and looks hard to beat here.  7 KARAKABEEL gets in well at the weights and is a top 3 player.

Race 7

4 RULING FORCE will be the big improver here.  With the blinkers back on, I expect it to roll straight to the front and give them something to catch.  1 MAN OF HIS WORD has won better races than this, but second up to the mile is a slight concern. 3 LORDAG is a consistent performer, should settle handier form the gate and will be in the finish.

Race 8

1 HOPFGARTEN is the class runner of the field, who ran second to MUSIC MAGNATE in the GROUP 2 Victory Stakes when resuming last time. Hasn’t publicly trialed this time around, the market will be a good guide.  9 DIVINE SERVICE looks the likely leader, and hasn’t been far away over 1200m this time in. 4 SUPREME EFFORT can win again on the strength of his last start effort.

Race 9

14 CARZOFF looks to have a touch of class on his rivals here, coming off group form in France, before 3 close up runs in Sydney. He has had a freshen up, and 2 trials leading into this. Although likely to settle mid field or worse, there looks to be on good speed engaged here to allow him to get home over the top of them.
