Race 1
Heavily backed runner from the Ben Currie yard 5 CUDDLE ME TIGHT commands favoritism here. She is unseen at official trials, so the money suggests the stable has a wrap on this particular horse. The stable has produced a number of 2yo winners this season, so a fair gauge to this ones ability going by the support. 2 SHAMURT was a strong debut winner, gets on top of the ground here and has race experience.

Race 2
Class 3 race over 2000m and as expected an even field with a number of hopes. Speed looks strong here with 1 HIGH WIND 3 GREATR GLENN looking to burn across, with 2 MUSTARRID 7 AUDREE & 5 QUIERO looking to roll forward also. 14 HINCHINSTYLE maps to get a nice run just in behind the speed and looks a strong chance off a last start Doomben win. 2 MUSTARRID can settle just behind a good speed, and was a forgive run last start, when bogged down on the inside. If he produces his run when placed in town last preparation he can figure in the finish.

12 ANOTHER DOLLAR has found a suitable race to get back into the winner’s circle, after a good run in town last time. Her form behind EPIC RANT reads well for this, and I think she is better suited back to this trip. There looks to be enough speed on here to suggest she can get her chance to get over the top of them late. 8 NOW YOU SEE has a good record on her home track, albeit it much weaker company. She looks likely to spear across to the lead here and can run top 3. 2 ROSIE POSIE is a nice horse who is suited here but will need luck from the draw.

Race 4
Looks genuine speed here with number 2,4,7,8,9,10 all looking to press forward. Thought the race maps nicely for 1 DOUBLE IMPACT, who while is getting on in age, is the class runner here with over $500,000 in prize money to his name. He won well on a heavy track last time, can sit off the speed again here and be finishing hard late.

Race 5
Hot Class 6 race, with the Weetwood Hcp emergencies 1 MR MARBELLOUZ 2 PUBLISHING POWER & 14 OUR BEEBEE adding some serious depth to the race. Was with favourite 1 MR MARBELLOUZ before he was scratched. Speed looks genuine here, 12 WHYCTACHIM down in the weights and blinkers first time will lead. Felt that 12 WHYCATCHIM would have run a clear second to Mr Marbellouz when they met 3 back, if you swapped the barriers, and we get that scenario here. 14 OUR BEEBEE was good against the track pattern last time, she is well weighted and well placed. The issue for her is the gate, and will need a good ride from McGillivray, she’s the blow out hope at the price. 2 PUBLISHING POWER had his chance behind Mr Marbellouz last time and wasn’t good enough.

Race 6
3 HANG looks perfectly placed at the 1625m third up and is the horse to beat. Last start he began well but was dragged back, then sat wide and finished off well, without looking a winning hope. The run should top him off nicely for this, conversely 1 ZAFONIC DANCER comes here only second up, which is a task around Clifford park over the 1625m. 1 ZAFONIC DANCER looks a likely Derby type and coming here second up suggests this is not his Grand Final, so happy to let him go around at the shorter price, without mine. He has his fair share of ability, which will se him race well, but can’t see him beating 3 HANG.

Race 7
Toowoomba Cup for 2018, and local favorite 4 HONEY TOAST trying to win his second cup in 3 years, after coming back from a Tendon injury. He will likely roll forward from the gate, put himself on the speed and can run a big race. 6 DOUBT DEFYING looks the horse to beat, he super impressive at the Gold Coast last start, leaving his rivals standing when sprinting clear late. He can race handy and look the winner at some stage. The forgotten runner is 1 RUDY, who this time last year was carrying this weight in WFA Group races and placed at Group 1 level. He has a bit against him with the gate but is a silly price. 7 EXOTERIC is another that looks to race handy to the speed, is in good form and a definite hope here.

The listed WEETWOOD Handicap over 1200m, suits strong horses who can get over a little further, as the up hill run on a strong tempo certainly sorts them out. I’ve nailed it down to 3 good winning hopes, 3 MAN OF HIS WORD 5 RUETTIGER 13 AMANAAT and 2 lesser hopes, but chances with luck 2 JUMBO PRINCE & 6 SHEISWHATSHEIS Love the form over of 5 RUETTIGER that he brings from Melbourne, and his QLD runs since joining Ben Currie have been good also. He has been set for the race, the only slight query is he hasn’t won for a while, but has drawn well, gets a good run in transit and looks the one to beat. 14 AMANAAT has bloomed in QLD for Ben Currie, continues to raise the bar and steps up again here. He gets the favors from the draw, gets the right run in transit, and looks hard to beat. 3 MAN OF HIS WORD is hard to catch because of his racing patter, and its proven costly. He hasn’t won since December 2016, which was at listed level over 1600m, if he can begin well enough and track RUETIGER into the race, he is a definite chance. 6 SHEISWHATSHEIS can spear to front and run a race and last years winner 2 JUMBO PRINCE will have to be midfield wide with cover, and has the ability to win again, he is a blow out hope if they over do the speed early as he will be charging late.

Race 9
Keen on the locally trained gallopers here, in particular 9 REAL EGO 3 BERGERAC and 1 APOLOBOOM. 9 REAL EGO from the good gate, and importantly back on a dry track, looks a great EW hope. His win 2 back on the dry was excellent, and then went to ha wet track and was ok. 3 BERGERAC is a genuine winning hope, he beat 9 REAL EGO fair and square last time they met, failed on the wet last time, back on a good track here is a good hope. 1 APOLOBOOM resumed with a strong win and go on and run well again.
