Trainer Peter Snowden says he’ll welcome a bit of rain ahead of the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington, where Beadman will chase stallion-making glory on Saturday.

The talented colt, one of 15 nominations for the three-year-old sprint, had his first look down the straight in a jump-out last Friday, finishing second behind Balastier.

“He seemed focused and jumped out nicely,” Snowden said. “We held him up early and in the last 300 metres let him work to the line and he was really good. He got a tick from me watching him.”

Beadman has won two of five starts, including a dominant 8¼-length victory in the Group 3 Ken Russell Stakes (1200m) on heavy ground.

He’s since finished second in the Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) and will again meet Hidden Motive at Flemington, with Blake Shinn to ride.

Joining him in the Coolmore are Beiwacht, Devil Night, Tentyris and My Gladiola.
