Snowy Clark’s full set & best for Mornington

MORNINGTON Wednesday December 13

A hot day in Melbourne (37), not even a sea breeze at Mornington will help defer the weather but the rails goes back true from 8m. A lot of Weir v Lindsay Park in form analysis. History says Mornington is not Weir’s best strike rate track (but it is improving) and we are tipping a few from his squad.

BEST BEST:   CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE (Race 6 # 13)

BEST VALUE:           WIND FORCE (Race 8 #5)

Race 1:            2-3-7-5

Surely this right race for CAPTAIN HARRY, off closing $120k race last time. Sure – still a maiden, but they all are. CAREERING AWAY is a sure danger3rd run in at this trip. Interesting ANNEKA first-up at 2500m off a couple of 1190m trials and has Williams. RAPIDO CHAPARRO ($175k yearling) trialled ok Sydney but respect Gai coming to Melbourne.

SUGGESTED: CAPTAIN HARRY to win.

Race 2: 7-3-6-4

Underwhelming race but likely to throw a better than maiden winner. ALNAAS though stands out as being ready to win this race then better ones. RAYMAX resumes and lacks race fitness against the favourite but won a trial to go 1600m fresh. Winner comes from them.

SUGGESTED: ALNAAS more class than rivals RAYMAX has fitness edge.

Race 3: 1-5-3-4

Yep small field but again these will be going further than a BM 64. Especially PREVAILING WINDS who resumed in impressive style (Holy Freeze 3rd) and has edge over CHALCIDIAN whose failure was put down to wet ground Ballarat Cup day when looked plain.

SUGGESTED: Very keen PREVAILINGS WINDS wins.

Race 4: 5-1-3-7

Very even race. DIVERTENTE won well leading resuming so hard to ignore credentials. FICA GAL (good synthetic, firm – no issue here) resumes off good trial. KEEP COURTING has touch of fitness but not much to surprise here.

SUGGESTED: DIVERTENTE with claim to keep winning.

Race 5: 7-9-6-10

Ok so POP QUEEN beat ELEGANTLY WASTED two runs ago – who has won since and nit has Callow and a weight pull. It’s not all maths but will do me. SHE’S POPULAR is the well- bred favourite with loads of upside for sure. PARTY HOST is Weir and holding good form, Alley touch sticky.

Race 6: 13-6-7-15.

Best of the day here for Weir in CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE. Drawn the fence, has best form and plenty of upside against these. Filling in placings behind – MAGELLAN (excused last start failure), BAJOUR (a fit local) but hardly bursting out of current BM60 rating.

SUGGESTED: Load up on CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE (if it gets beaten, there might be one).

Race 7: 8-1-9-3

Again going Weir with ABOVE AUTHORITY and nothing to dislike about form read, good gate and opposition. STREET SPUN well placed with claim for in-form Thornton and back to 2000m. Lindsay Park has RAINDROPS ON ROSES 2nd-up this trip. MANNING ROAD is fit and honest enough this grade.

SUGGESTED: Think ABOVE AUTHORITY ready to rise through grades.

Race 8: 5-12-17-16

Toughest race of the day but leaning Lindsay Park and fit WIND FORCE with good draw and claim for talented Kersley. TOY BOY hard to beat for sure off long go between race days. EPIC MOMENT to resume and run well. STRATEGIC SPIN might be best vale.

SUGESTED: Tough race – but of value WIND FORCE.
