Snowy Clark’s Valley preview and best bets

THE VALLEY Friday February 9

Rail out 5m tonight (from 2m) and in that position normally favours on-pacers, but this track (rated good 4 early Morning) is in terrific shape.

BEST BET: FREEZE OVER R3 #3

BEST VALUE: Take wide quaddie.

Race 1: 6-4-8-10

Like the “gelded’ gear change (and blinkers off) HAN XIN who has the advantage of the inside gate and interestingly goes this trip fresh off 2 Sydney trials. Though been a bit soft or market adjustment in lead up. Reverse is debutant JUDICIOUS and that’s good lead to respect especially as Racing Victoria allow Cranbourne jumpouts to basically remain behind the curtain. Markets say they he will run very well. MELOMARONA resumes and has ability. TUSKAR BROOK will be competitive and BELICHICK will improve off a pass mark debut.

SUGGESTED: Either HAN XIN off what we see or JUDICIOUS off what we don’t.

Race 2: 8-5-7-2

Mick Price with two key runners and leaning SHALWA off Flemington on top over ARMED AND READY who broke through well Moe (and should have done so). Think 1600m suits SHALWA touch better. KEDELSTON well placed, pattern may give VALIANT SPIRIT a hope.

SUGGESTED: SHALWA to beat the boys.

Race 3: 3-1-2-4

Hard not to like FREEZE OVER is it? This is a BM64 – and we are talking Booker from (runs Saturday alongside Shoals/Catchy). DESPATCH resumes and has trialled well enough but strikes a possible star (and it might be one two. BRANKSOME CHIMES is fit and in form and with Weir. STAR SEARCH has a win over Cliff’s Edge. Strong race.

SUGGESTED: FREEZE OVER to win.

Race 4: 1-2-5-3

Even race, not much between my 4 here. GREVISTE is a winner here and now gets blinkers. But this form ties in with HUNAMOSA and LIGHT  ‘N’ FIRE and nothing too definitive. CORAM has a place hope.

SUGGESTED: Tough; Something GREVISTE with gear change. Not keen on race.

Race 5: 8-9-7-5

The intrigue comes probably over-hyped via OSCIETRA, reckon absolutely primed to go off here 1st-up for Black Caviar’s daughter – but I’m not totally convinced. RODDANDTODD boasts no similar credentials (who does?) but is better value. FILL THE FLUTE was terrific at Camperdown and can measure up. STRAVIERA is fit and in winning form.

SUGGESTED: Something RODDANDTODD.

Race 6: 12-2-8-6

Another deep and decent race but keen to see SEANNIE resuming (2 from 3 there) and form so much better than rivals here. They look like they’ve picked a terrific race to get going for the stable. SUNDAY PRAY was ok over the 1000m so the 1200m better suited here. COMRAD NED has been a good horse to me but draws poorly. SABOTAGE is drawn better and better for one run back. BELIEVING in the quaddie.

SUGGESTED: SEANNIE to impress.

Race 7: 11-10-12-4

DIAMOND GRACE is 2nd up at 2500m but was terrific fresh at same trip here in Bondeiger (Adelaide Saturday) and KING KAMADA (2nd) Think it can win now and has more upside. FONTEIN LAD is looking for this trip for mine. RAINDROPS ON ROSES gets away from Sandown mid-weeks which may spark same zest. TUFF BICKIE is that, will make much of best luck and opportunity.

SUGGESTED: Tough also but DIAMOND GRACE to win.

Race 8: 3-9-10-4

Forgiving CLUB TROPICANA last tome, has a win over MANOLO BLAHNIQ and that’s good enough. Respecting Group placed TRUE EXCELSIOR who ran in better races last time, has trialled well but comes up short enough because of that. FALLING WATERS is racing well and has the speed I think helps tonight’s expected pattern. AVANTI ROSE is in form, its that sort of race. MISS VESPER has pace and in the mix.

SUGGESTED: Happy with CLUB TROPICANA

QUADDIE: (looking for some splits)
5-8-9

2-8-12-15

3-4-11-12

3-4-5-9-10

$120 for 50%
