Snowy Clark’s Valley preview & best

MOONEE VALLEY Friday February 16

Rail stays 5m and don’t mind following on pacers and those close to rails under this scenario. Not definitive pattern but a sort of rule of thumb. Some promising horses here, good meeting.

BEST BET: SUMMER SHAM (Race 5 #5)

Race 1: 6-3-1-11.

Obviously many variables here and new betting doesn’t help much after Canzonet scratching but market says respect POWER OF ATTORNEY ($480k Easter Not A Single Doubt) who has had a jump out – went ok, and SIZZLESUN ($70k Sizzling) off two ok jump outs and STAR ORDER ($30k Star Witness) who has shown something. ANOTHER BIT (Foxwedge) is overs off debut when showed pace when run over by Run Naan and has since won a Cranbourne trial. And not ignoring ASHRAMA (Darci Brahma) who has experience and that was here at track and looks most likely of those raced.

SUGGESTED: Interested in any further market move re Power Of Attorney otherwise ASHRAMA

Race 2: 5-7-2-6

Imagine running into a group 1 4th LIMESTONE (behind Merchant Navy!) in a BM78. And we’ve missed the price. The $2.7 gone early. Don’t have to dig too deep into form around Catchy and Booker to say it should be winning. One query – is the 1000m too short when the only danger SACRED SHAM should find the lead and is on the up.  HAY BALE gets away from Flemington straight which will help.

SUGGESTED: LIMESTONE wins, SACRED SHAM runs 2nd.

Race 3: 7-4-1-5

Early money ($11-$6) has been for SPECIAL DIVA – who you’d think on form card would better with run and at 1400 + but have to respect. INVICTUM DOMINA might get the lead and be fitter for sound Pakenham return. BRUGAL REWARD can turn around defeat to SAVAJU from last meeting here.

SUGGESTED: Stay with INVICTUM DOMINA.

Race 4: 3-5-2-4

Small field but great race and bolstered by CLIPPER resuming in Melbourne (and love M Dale at The valley stats) and BROOK MAGIC who was dominant at Warwick Farm resuming. That said, HOLY SEAL was brilliant beating Smart Coupe from the front at Caulfield and can make them work to beat home here.

SUGGESTED: HOLY SEAL to repel the visitors.

Race 5: 5-7-9-1

Been waiting for SUMMER SHAM to reappear, been scratched from wide draws and doesn’t get a great one here. But loved its debut win over promising OVER AND ABOVE (won since) and big gap to 3rd. MISS OKLAHOMA was big drifter but won like a shortie at Moe. SOUL STAR was good as a $26 chance chasing Holy Seal who dominated at Caulfield. BADUZZI is back from 1400m and looks overs ($11) to me.

SUGGESTED: Take the $4.4 SUMMER SHAM.

Race 6: 5-2-10-13

Not a great race to be blasting away at. ANCIENT HISTORY (no Oz wins) and MARCHING ON came through similar race last time and their pattern doesn’t help. MUTARAKEM has run into two hot winners last two and better placed here. Should keep out of trouble and perhaps safest option if you can have one in a race like this.

SUGGESTED: Why is MIDAS MAN $12?

Race 7: 7-2-10-3

O’LONERA will roll along on pace and that gives it a clear edge, has run well also both Valley runs. Easy to have on top. VASSAL has form in good Sydney 2400m staying contests. Always respect the Waller/Oliver combination with a transferred runner. DORNIER is no star but stays. But MASTER OF ARTS and FANATIC in quaddie.

SUGGESTED: Like how it works out here for O’LONERA.

Race 8: 4-6-11-12

A quaddie leg we need and can trim down. Very keen on KNIGHT COMMANDER and will anchor it in the wide middle two leg quaddie. Love the way its improving through grades and well placed again in BM70 with brown 2kg claim. Should win, and is a winner, BORD DE GAIN has struggled to find another win since taking out first two career starts but continues to race like another one isn’t far away. ABYSSINIAN is 2 for 2, well tried to win a BM70 Pakenham with strong finish. TOGA PICTA has class, didn’t come up in the spring.

QUADDIE:
