Godolphin’s duo of colts boasting dual Group 1 successes have raced for the last time and are slated to join the Darley stallion lineup later in the year.
Monday brought the news that Tentyris and Observer have been sent to stud, with the pair distributed across Darley Australia’s two facilities.
Tentyris, out of Street Boss, took out the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) in the spring campaign and notched a fresh win in the Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) earlier this year, heading to Kelvinside in New South Wales for a stud fee of $88,000 (including GST).
Observer, successful in the Victoria Derby (2500m) and Australian Guineas (1600m), a Ghaiyyath progeny, will stand at Seymour in Victoria charging $33,000 a serve.
“Tentyris and Observer are two of the best from our amazing three-year-old crop,” Godolphin Australia managing director Andy Makiv said.
“This season is a credit to everyone involved, from those on the farms to our people in the office, right through to the trainers and their staff.
“To be so competitive on the racetrack this season and win races like the Coolmore, Lightning, Guineas and Derby is something everyone at Godolphin should be very proud of.”
Tentyris signs off with a last-place finish in the T J Smith Stakes (1200m). Alongside his Group 1 triumphs, the colt was narrowly beaten into second in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) and claimed the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) at two years old.
The Anthony and Sam Freedman-prepared colt retires having won five of his 10 starts, bolstered by two further placings that contributed to earnings of $2.65m in stakes.
Observer notched five wins from 11 outings, pocketing $2.7m, with Group 1 runner-up efforts in the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) and Rosehill Guineas (2000m) enhancing a resume that features Group 2 victories in the Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) and Autumn Stakes (1400m).
His parting run for Ciaron Maher was a fifth placing in the Group 1 ATC Australian Derby (2400m), trailing Green Spaces, who sports the Godolphin colours.
