Test The World confronts new challenge

Bjorn Baker trainer of Test The World.

Test The World has cleared practically every obstacle this preparation, but Bjorn Baker fears a wet track will bring the classy filly back to the field at Rosehill.

The three-year-old is after her fourth consecutive victory on Saturday, but the Warwick Farm trainer admits her first start on heavy ground could undermine that goal.

Although the TAB installed Test The World as $3.50 favourite for the benchmark 85 (1200m), Baker wasn’t entirely sold.

“Her form has been immaculate,” Baker said.

“I guess one question mark is the wet track and also her third run at 1200. I’d have liked to have put her over 1400.”

Test The World has not been outside the top three since winning on debut at Scone in December, earmarking her as one of Baker’s most promising fillies.

“You can’t knock what she’s done. She’s won four of six and she’s come through the grades nicely. She’s hit all the levels she’s had to,” he said.

If Test The World handles the ground her campaign might stretch to another run.

“You’re only three once. If she happens to win and she’s in good form you’d have to consider another run,” he said.

Baker also has Collateral chasing his third straight win in a benchmark 78 over 1800m as he enjoys an impressive introduction to Sydney racing.

The five-year-old arrived from Darlene Duryea’s Queensland stable in February and has acclimatised smoothly.

“He’s continuing to really thrive and the 1800 should suit but he’s drawn a bit awkwardly (12) so he will need some luck,” Baker said.

Baker said he would prefer a track upgrade to soft for four-year-old Sir Plush in his 1100m-race.

“He’s really good fresh,” he said.

“The big question mark is the track. If it stays heavy it might be tough for him, if it gets back to a soft he’s a chance.”

Baker said Samadoubt should have no problem with the track in his 1400m-race after his last-start second on heavy ground at Canterbury.
