The Autumn Sun has confirmed his standing as the best three-year-old in Australia in winning the $2 million Caulfield Guineas.

Forced to sit deep over the 1600m without cover, The Autumn Sun surged clear to beat Vassilator and the filly Oohood.

The colt’s victory gave jockey James McDonald his first Group One win since returning from a long suspension for a betting offence.
