Anzac Day Stakes Free Tips, Bets and Field Preview – 2020

The Listed Anzac Day Stakes (1400m) has attracted a talented field of two-year-old’s at Flemington on Saturday in what is shaping up to be a very wide open start to the day.

Trainer Danny O’Brien will saddle the favourite Flying Award, while Lindsay Park will be looking to spoil the party once again with fast-finishing Snitzel colt, Itzhot.

This race has produced some major upsets in the last few years, most notably with Vassilator winning as 100-1 shot in 2018. With that in mind, we’ve previewed the entire race and our best selections can be found below.

Anzac Day Stakes – Winner

No. 2 Itzhot – Bet Now: $18.00

Itzhot ran the fastest final 200m of the day in his win over Flying Award at Sandown and I can certainly get on board with him here at big odds. The Snitzel colt will need to overcome the top weight of Regan Bayliss on board, but with a win over the 1400m to his name and two placings prior, he’s well over the odds at the current quote.

Anzac Day Stakes – 2nd

No. 5 Flying Award – Bet Now: $4.60

You couldn’t have asked much more from Mask Of Time in the Doncaster Prelude, where he was beaten right on the line by a flying Cascadian. I’m willing to stick with him here resuming over the distance and if we get something close to a Soft 5 or better I think he’ll be right in the finish. The six-year-old has finished runner-up in three of his five starts at Rosehill, so that’s something.

Anzac Day Stakes – 3rd

No. 3 Diala – Bet Now: $6.00

Diala looks a horse to follow out of her last start win at Caulfield where she beat home Tarcoola Diva in a dominant front-running display. The query is whether she is purely a wet-tracker after failing to place on firmer ground at Moonee Valley on debut, but she couldn’t have been more impressive when called upon in her last start. Dwayne Dunn retaining the ride is a big plus.

Anzac Day Stakes – 4th

No. 9 Mauser – Bet Now: $9.00

This is a tricky debut for the son of All Too Hard, but I do think Mauser maps well to get a lovely run from the inside alley. He’s had a soft trial at Canterbury leading in and the way Lindsay Park has prepared their two-year-old’s so far this season has been nothing short of exceptional.
