Pretty average fare for mid-week racing in Victoria so keeping this brief.

BEST BET:            SUMMER SHAM Race 7#1

BEST VALUE:      INDRABEEL is value at $4.80. Race 4#5

Race 1: 6-8-2-7

Obviously not enthused or expecting much from a 2400m Mdn but purely on form either HEGEMON or DAZZLING RAIN wins – both through same race Pakenham where Hegemon beat home Dazzling Rain and for mine is surprisingly better odds again today so going it. COMICS has form that ties in with them and has had a hurdle trial since last run.

SUGGESTED: Not much but HEGEMON appeals if you must at the odds.

Race 2: 4-12-8-3

Not that fussed on the only one to have raced – AURORA’S STAR – who was just ok late at The Bool but experience and blinkers may help. CHESS STAR has trialled well in Sydney – behind Santos, who came out and won. MAITRI has trialled and shown ability, RESURGE comes from powerful McEvoy yard and was ok in SA trial.

SUGGESTED: Follow money leads, but liked CHESS STAR trial.

Race 3: 11-2-3-10

CHATEAU GRIFFO should win. Odds tell you that and form tells you why it is those odds – around Limestone and Tulip – and opposition here is moderate.

SUGGESTED: If you like shorts CHATEAU GRIFFO is for you.

Race 4: 5-15-3-9

Pretty keen on INDRABEEL with the blinkers going on. Liked its run at Caulfield when didn’t have much luck. Reckon Bendigo suits as will the 1300m. SOMNIUM will also appreciate 1300m and  was good resuming. ENSISHEIM is quickly out to 1300m which looks a plus.

SUGGESTED: Like the morning $4.80 about INDRABEEL

Race 5: 1-9-3-4

TROJAN STORM lines up a short enough favourite here off a Sandown last after previous good form, suggested track was too firm. Sure hard to beat if accept that but like the value about MAKATITI who was slowly away and things didn’t go right Pakenham resuming. FAST TYCOON is ready to play at this level and NONE BETTER won a moderate race at The Bool last time.

SUGGESTED: Something MAKATITI over favourite.

Race 6: 8-6-1-5

OUR CHIQUILLA has had excuses past couple and despite poor winning strike rate, again will be a major player here. The obvious threat is MISS ADEQUATE who lead and gave great sight Flemington and this is easier. GO DOWN races best on its home drink, MACATTACK has found winning form again.

SUGGESTED: OUR CHIQUILLA to win, MISS ADEQUATE only other one in quaddie.

Race 7: 1-6-4-8

SACRED SHAM should win. Unlucky Friday night after blowing the start and it all went wrong after that. SAM’S IMAGE flopped badly when favourite at Moonee Valley but there were excuses in hindsight. VALLIANO has old form around Russian Revolution and resumes here. ROCKETS RED GLARE is consistent.

SUGGESTED: Keen SACRED SHAM as best of day.

Race 8: 6-12-5-9

BALCAZAR didn’t have much luck at Ballarat and now gets to 1400m. That appeals. SHE’S GOT SPEED (doesn’t) but is another that is looking for 1600m. ALL HARD WOOD landed a narrow win on debut but liked the effort. FILBERT WAY has maintained form since winning maiden.

SUGGESTED: Not much between a few here but like BALCAZAR.
