Race 1

2 – 3 – 8 – 6

Tricky race to kick start the day but I’ve settled on the Godolphin filly GONGS who only been seen publically once when winning a barrier trial here three weeks ago. She responded when asked and got there to get the judges verdict with a big space back to the others. She probably just needs a touch of luck early from the awkward gate. Granny Red Shoes failed on debut albeit on a heavy surface yet she had trialled well previously. From a good gate she can show up here. The favourite Rosadiblu has good raps on her and looked above average in her trial at Wyong.

Race 2

1 – 2 – 4 – 3

SEAWAY was very good on debut when running second at Randwick and especially well placed against this bunch. Only a small field but there looks a genuine tempo that should suit him even though he could settle as close as jockey Blake Shinn wishes. I’ve got the other two from Chris Waller’s yard Balearic and Scream Park as the biggest threats.

Race 3

3 – 1 – 5 – 4

A few of these, no all of these are hard to catch and you’d go mad thinking you know who is going to fire and who isn’t. WINE BUSH has only won once in 19 starts but again following four good runs in succession looks the one to get past here. He was beaten a length by Doukhan last start who is a major player here but Wine Bush meets him two kilos better at the weights. Dream Folk comes through the same race and meets both better at the weights and gets barrier one but he was beaten over three lengths. Ashkannd is another coming through the same race and should be around the mark again. If you get the feeling I’m not overly excited you are a good judge.

Race 4

2 – 1 – 6 – 5

REVENIRE was well beaten first up but there were excuses with the track playing upfront yet he got a mile back before hitting the line well. That run is sure to have bought him on fitness wise and with a smaller field with an even tempo expected I think he can round this lot up. Junglized is a winner of three from eight and comes here off a terrific winning performance at his home track last start at Hawkesbury and if he has luck early from the bad gate will give a big sight. Madame Moustache is the blow out for me first up having not raced since a Flemington run back in July. This trip is well short of her best but expect her to be coming hard late.

Race 5

8 – 5 – 7 – 2

KAWAIKINI is a lightly raced mare that has returned this preparation a little stronger and I think ready for today’s journey and the mile. Following an impressive win at Nowra with 61.5kg things didn’t go to plan at Randwick last time out yet she fought on to run fourth. The extra trip here I believe is ideal and with a very light weight if she gets room I am confident she will be hard to hold out. Chris Waller’s pair The Avenger and Tivoli Street looks her hardest to beat.

Race 6

5 – 6 – 1 – 9

The short priced favourite Good Time Charlie is the one to beat but he’ll a touch of luck from draw and he has 60.5kg to lump in the 1100m dash. I am a fan of MOSRAI a winner of three from six career starts and he has drawn barrier one ad stepping up to the 1100m I am hoping means he can hold leaders back or be a little handier than expected. This is his first visit to the city but he looks ready coming off a last start win at Tamworth. Eccellere was scratched a few times last week waiting for this race and if she can begin brilliantly and get across early she will make it difficult for the others to run her down.

Race 7

9 – 6 – 12 – 8

BAYSA has been racing in terrific form but simply at this stage of her career she can’t run 1900 or 2000 metres. She has loomed several times of late been unable to find the line at the distance. She looks the one to beat with the only concern here being the lack of tempo on paper but I am hoping the booking of the aggressive Blake Shinn will somehow overcome that. Lady Evelyn and Maddison Avenue are the two I expect to roll from the gates and set the tempo so they must be considered players.
