Bruce Clark’s preview & best for Moonee Valley

A rare Saturday afternoon at The Valley, renovate and refreshed after a winter break and comes up a Soft 6 rail true obviously. No surprise that Weir and Lindsay Park (Hayes HayesDabernig) positioned to play the key roles for punters again.

And well done to Moonee Valley too for this service and worth watching and assessing for yourself Tuesday morning’s gallops of many of the players here and their gallop times:

This is a real Trackwork show:

If they galloped and are in tips see – (watch gallop)

BEST BET: Race 1 #6 YOGI  $3 bet now

BEST VALUE: Race 7 #11 MISSROCK  $7.5 bet now

Race 1: 6-2-8-4

Weir to win it but which one? Going 6 YOGI (making Saturday debut) but it will be a hard watch, will be off the bit chasing but reckon the Valley chamber (rather than the perceived long straight preference) will suit him. 2 MASTER ZEPHYR is flying and sure to be hard to beat. The Safer watch is 8 CISMONTANE (watch gallop) handling the speed while hard to ignore 4 CHARLEVOIX off good form.

SUGGESTED: Keep following YOGI but scared to watch.  $3 bet now

Race 2: 4-10-2-3

Got to like the way 4 MERRIEST(watch gallop) has prepped up for a first up to go here so goes in the top pick. 10 FRAGONARD(watch gallop) looked excellent alongside Vega Magic no less in jump out. 2 HEAR THE CHANT is another resuming that looks dangerous. 3 PURE PRIDE hasn’t won for a while but kick starts another campaign here and best is good enough.

SUGGESTED: Deep race if you don’t go with 4 MERRIEST which we are.  $4.8 bet now

Race 3: 1-3-4-5

Terrific race but got to love the way the Lindsay Park army of top juveniles have graduated to the next class and 1 TULIP should be the next one to do so. It with 3 LIMESTONEhave drawn the outside gates but class and tactics to get them through. Big spruik around for 4 ROOMOOZ (watch gallop) with gear changes with 5 GARRARD the clear another player.

SUGGESTED:  1 TULIP to win but a good contest.  $2.5 bet now

Race 4: 12-10-14-5

Now 19 REBELLIOUS LORD gets a run not as clear cut for the top pick 12 SIN TO WINwho ran well and will come off sharp debut run for Lindsay Park. Hard to knock anything. 14 SPUNLAGO is flying along the same form lines while 5 DATA POINT has lost many fans along this campaign but has claimed.

SUGGESTED: 12 SIN TO WIN beautifully graded here.  $2.4 bet now

Race 5: 6-10-4-1

So many eyes but how much money will be on the Cup winner 1 ALMANDIN resuming? Not mine. I’m with the emerging 6 PACODALI and loving the way he savages the line and only 0.5kg over the limit has this time of year edge on these. 10 BLING DYNASTY will never beat these in a month can be competitive Saturday. 4 SECOND BULLET was terrific first up and going with that fitness advantage while leaving ALMANDIN in top 4.

SUGGESTED: Keen 7 PACODALI.  $3.7 bet now

Race 6: 1-8-11-3

Weights favor 1 AZAZEL but this is different contest in terms of maps and strategies than those like 10 SUNQUEST and 11 FRANKEL MY DEAR (don’t like claimer not claiming here though) behind it. Value is 8 TYCOON DANCER fresh up in the absolutely intriguing race. 3 BANDIPUR (watch gallop) is flying and obviously brings the fitness edge and a swarm of early wagering support.

SUGGESTED:  Having something at the odds 11 FRANKEL MY DEAR despite my apprentice reservations.  $16 bet now

Race 7: 11-9-10-8

The obvious push is for 10 HEATHERLY – always trials and jumps out like a star – is a star – but rock bottom price despite the obvious attractiveness of the race from gate etc. Liked the way 11 MISSROCK (watch gallop) worked here Tuesday not to mention her overall record and will be the one poised to nail this. 9 SPEEDEOR is a winner, 8 EL DIVINO will improve this preparation for Weir.

SUGGESTED: value 11 MISSROCK  $7.5 bet now

Race 8: 5-4-11-13

Big fan of 5 RAW IMPULSE, look back at its Valley 1500m win last campaign where it set a track record. Yes, giving away a little fitness to 4 DUKE OF BRUNSWICK which is the clear danger but is a better horse. 11 I’M FEELING LUCKY is a valuable back-up for Weir here and 13 HERE TO THERE was no fluke last time and weighted attractively with the claim.

SUGGESTED: 5 RAW IMPULSE begins to climb to a big spring campaign here.  $4.4 bet now

Race 9: 8-10-5-7

8 OAK DOOR is potentially the best horse here, will need some luck from the gate but well found in markets and rightly so. 10 OBERLAND had no luck fresh for Weir and will bounce off that positively. 5 RED ALTO is the value, good before a break and resumed in the same style. 7 ROCKET TOMMY gets a better and different race shape than Flemington last week.

SUGGESTED: 8 OAK DOOR to resume with a win.  $3.2 bet now

$48 for 100% a skinny one.
