RACE 4 NO.2 PRINCE OF ARRAN
PRINCE OF ARRAN did a good job in his first Aussie start when running second behind the current Melbourne Cup favourite Yucatan albeit he did ease down over the final 50m of the race allowing the placegetters to finish closer than they should of. He now comes here three weeks later which will have allowed him to acclimatise more to our conditions and I think the Flemington circuit will be far more to his liking. A win here and he will push his way into the cup on Tuesday.
RACE 6 NO.15 AMPHITRITE
It’s a big ask for the 3yo filly AMPHITRITE taking on the older mares here in a group one during Melbourne’s spring carnival but with only 50kg on her back and what looks like a good solid tempo I think this girl is capable of getting the job done. Since returning this preparation she has gone from winning a 3yo filly’s maiden at Sale before coming here to Flemington and winning a 3yo BM64. In a huge step she then was able to win the group 2 Edward Manifold and then last start she took another giant leap winning the group 1 Thousand Guineas. Why won’t she take another step and get the job done here.
