Feehan Stakes Free Tips, Bets and Field Preview – 2020

Once known as the Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes, the Group 2 Feehan Stakes is the feature race at The Valley on Saturday.

Run and won by some of the best horses ever to step out on an Australian track, the Feehan Stakes offers its winner ballot-free entry into next month’s Cox Plate, and a typically open field has been taken this year.

Feehan Stakes – Winner

No. 2 Regal Power – Bet Now: $7.00

He hasn’t shown much in his two starts back from a spell, but this is a big drop in class for Regal Power, and he is up to winning the Feehan Stakes.

Regal Power took out the Group 1 Railway during last year’s Perth Summer Carnival, but went to another level during an autumn preparation which heralded a second placing in the Australian Cup, and impressive win in the All-Star Mile most notably.

He is on the quick back-up from the Memsie Stakes and if he doesn’t do anything in this race, his preparation might be in jeopardy.

Feehan Stakes – 2nd

No. 8 Harbour Views – Bet Now: $4.20

Harbour Views hasn’t been seen at the races since June, but he simply doesn’t know how to run a bad race and can fight out the finish of the Feehan Stakes.

The Le Havre gelding has recorded six wins and three minor placings from his ten career starts so far and has continued to improve with racing, and as the bar has been raised.

This is the toughest task for which he has been set, but his recent work has been eye-catching, including this piece from Casterton earlier in the week:

Feehan Stakes – 3rd

No. 6 Sircconi – Bet Now: $5.50

Sircconi is another horse in the quick back-up in the Feehan Stakes and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.

The Nicconi gelding has been a good horse since debuting, but a change to Nick Ryan’s stable last year appears to have switched him back on, and his form this preparation has been the best of his career.

Having won the Listed Winter Championship Final in July, he has finished second in each of the PB Lawrence and the Listed Heatherlie Stakes most recently, and he is rock-hard fit for this assignment.

Feehan Stakes – 4th

No. 5 Mahamedeis – Bet Now: $10.00

Mahamedeis has returned to the races in typically tough form this time and he is up to another big performance in the Feehan Stakes.

The Magnus gelding has been the stable star for Nick Ryan for several seasons now, and has continued to improve with each effort back from a spell, culminating in consecutive wins in the VOBIS Gold Stayers, and a handicap race here at The Valley most recently.

I like that he is a month between runs and the drop in trip shouldn’t be too much of an issue for him.
