Horse Racing Tips & Best Bets – Friday 8th January, 2021

Friday will see plenty of quality thoroughbred racing across the country with our focus being on the meeting at Launceston and Cranbourne. Take a look at our horse racing tips and best bets for Friday 8th January, 2021.

Launceston – Race 9 5:23PM AEST

BEST BET: No. 2 Mandela Effect – Bet Now: $2.25

Mandela Effect can reward punters’ patience this afternoon with a win in the Tasmanian Stakes.

He’s been the beaten favourite twice now at Listed level but does look much better suited here rising to the mile where he’s won three times in the past.

The inside gate is a huge advantage and he should be doing his best work late.

Cranbourne – Race 5 7:30PM AEST

No. 1 Confidant – Bet Now: $5.00

Confidant ran on well for third first-up behind the impressive Field Of Roses and is almost certain to improve on his last assignment when fourth at Caulfield over the 1200m.

This lightly-raced son of Fastnet Rock has hardly put a foot wrong in seven starts to date and he looks set to peak third-up with Jamie Mott back in the saddle.

He should get a lovely run just off the speed and his recent form suggests a win is right around the corner.

Cranbourne – Race 6 8:00PM  AEST

No. 9 Backpedal – Bet Now: $3.10

Backpedal returns to the races for the first time since June after suffering a few setbacks following a disappointing result at Ballarat.

Before that, she won her maiden on debut by nearly eight lengths as a three-year-old and then went on to run sixth in both the Group 3 Champagne Stakes at The Valley and the Thoroughbred Club Stakes at Caulfield.

We haven’t see her trial, but plenty of people had a big opinion of this mare and a bounce-back would not surprise.

Cranbourne – Race 8 9:00PM AEST

EACH WAY: No. 11 Chloe’s Day – Bet Now: $SP.00

Chloe’s Day finished sixth over this track and distance two runs back and has been racing well without winning of late.

She’s only won once in 18 starts, but the blinkers going on might just be the key to her with Patrick Maloney in the saddle.

She loves to get back and run on and the inside barrier should suit.
