Horse Racing Tips & Best Bets – Friday 8th May, 2020

Friday will see a host of quality thoroughbred races with our focus being on the meetings on the Gold Coast in Queensland and Cranbourne in Victoria. Take a look at our horse racing tips and best bets for Friday 8th May, 2020.

Gold Coast – Race 2 12:37PM AEST

EACH-WAY: No. 5 Degas – Bet Now: $6.50

He will need some luck in running from the wide barrier draw, but Degas is still over the odds to win this contest at the Gold Coast this afternoon. The Show A Heart gelding had no luck in running at Doomben last start and I like the fact that trainer Chris Munce has given him a barrier trial between race starts. $8.50 is a great price for a horse with this much upside.

Gold Coast – Race 7 3:32PM AEST

BEST BET: No. 4 Mishani Blossom – Bet Now: $3.50

Mishani Blossom has been racing consistently this campaign and she finds herself in another winnable contest at the Gold Coast this afternoon. She showed plenty of toughness to win at Toowoomba a couple of starts ago and she wasn’t beaten far behind Vanna Girl at the Gold Coast last start. The form coming out of that race has been very strong and a repeat of that effort would make Mishani Blossom very tough to beat.

Gold Coast – Race 9 4:42PM AEST

No. 15 Austria – Bet Now: $4.00

Austria has been transferred to the care of Bevan Laming after starting her racing career with Chris Waller in Sydney. She has shown plenty of ability without being able to string together some wins during her career to date and the change of stable might be what she needs to switch her on. On her best form she does have an edge over the rest of this field, and I am happy to gamble that she will produce a semblance of her best form in this contest.

Cranbourne – Race 5 7:00PM AEST

No. 3 Magnetism – Bet Now: $7.50

Magnetism is well and truly over the odds at his current price of $8. He returned to the races with a fast-finishing second at Cranbourne and he probably would have gone close to winning with a little bit more luck in running. Daniel Stackhouse will have to settle him in the second half of the field, but he does have a nice turn-of-foot and he will find the line strongly in the concluding stages of this race.
