It’s South Australian Derby day but there is great racing all around the country today. We take a look at some of the feature meetings including those at Morphettville, Caulfield and Doomben. Take a look at our horse racing tips and best bets for Saturday 9th May, 2020.

Morphettville – Race 2 12:36PM AEST

BEST BET: No. 7 Ecumenical – Bet Now: $2.25

Ecumenical has recorded three wins from her four race starts and there is no reason that she cannot continue her winning ways in the SA Sires’ Produce Stakes. The talented filly ran the fastest closing sectionals in the race when she won the Breeders Stakes in impressive fashion and she gives the impression she will relish the step-up to 1400 metres.

Morphettville – Race 8 4:31PM AEST

EACH-WAY: No. 12 Moonlight Maid – Bet Now: $11.00

Moonlight Maid is the value selection to win an excellent edition of the South Australian Derby. She finished second behind Toffee Tongue in the Australasian Oaks and her run was enormous after being caught wide early. The step-up in trip will suit her and she is well and truly over the odds at her current price of $14.

Doomben – Race 6 2:25PM AEST

No. 7 Gotta Kiss – Bet Now: $1.90

Gotta Kiss returned to the races with a promising third place finish behind the talented Isotope at the Sunshine Coast and she should take good benefit from that performance. On exposed form she does have a clear class edge over the rest of this field, and she will get a lovely run in transit with Steph Thornton in the saddle.

Caulfield – Race 9 4:45PM AEST

No. 5 The Astrologist – Bet Now: $4.50

The Astrologist is a lightly raced galloper that still has plenty of upside. He has won his only previous race start at Caulfield and he has form around the talented Rubisaki. It has been a while since he was seen at the races, but his barrier trial win in Adelaide last month suggests that he is fairly forward for his return to the races.
