Quail Hollow returned to the races with an impressive win at big odds at Ladbrokes Park Sandown and a repeat of that effort would make him very tough to beat. The form coming out of that contest has been strong and this field really isn’t any tougher. He is a horse that still has upside and he can make it two wins on the trot.

Ballarat – Race 7 3:40PM AEST

No. 7 Melarita – Bet Now: $2.80

Melarita could hardly have been more impressive when she bolted in to win by more than four lengths at Mornington last start and she still has the scope to improve on that performance. Jye McNeil will be able to settle her right on the speed from barrier eight and she can make it two wins from as many starts this preparation.

Ballarat – Race 8 4:15PM AEST

BEST BET: No. 4 Eugene’s Forest – Bet Now: $1.65

Eugene’s Forest has gone to another level this campaign and he is deserving of his status as a clear favourite. He overcame a very tough run to win at Ladbrokes Park two starts ago and he beat the talented Nashville Sound at Geelong last start. I like that he has been freshened-up for this contest and there is no reason that he can’t continue his winning ways.

No. 5 Iscariot – Bet Now: $SP.00

Iscariot is well-placed to make a winning return to the races. He has recorded two wins from as many first-up starts and he has developed into a consistent performer. Michael Dee can ride him aggressively from the wide barrier draw and he will give his rivals something to catch.
