The Warrnambool Carnival may look a little different this year and today we take a look at the opening day where eight races will be run and won. Take a look at our horse racing tips and best bets for Tuesday 5th May, 2020.

Warrnambool – Race 5 2:25PM AEST

No. 10 Georgethefifth – Bet Now: $2.40

Symon Wilde has an excellent record during the Warrnambool Racing Carnival and he can score another winner with Georgethefifth. This really isn’t the strongest race of the day and Georgethefifth does have more upside than the rest of this field. He is deserving of his status as a clear favourite.

Warrnambool – Race 6 3:05PM AEST

No. 8 The Dominator – Bet Now: $4.40

It has been a while between wins for The Dominator, but he has a chance to return to winning form in the Brierly Steeplechase. He has been racing well without winning this campaign and he has the advantage of Tom Sadler in the saddle. The veteran gelding has won at Warrnambool in the past and maps to get a lovely run in transit from barrier one.

Warrnambool – Race 7 3:45PM AEST

BEST BET: No. 1 Zed Em – Bet Now: $4.40

Ablaze will start the Grand Annual Steeplechase as a clear favourite, but I can’t get him as short as his current price and it is Zed Em that represents genuine value at his current price. Zed Em won the Grand Annual Steeplechase last year and it is a very specialist race. His lead-up form has been mixed, but he still has plenty of ability and will have no issues running out the trip strongly.

Warrnambool – Race 8 4:30PM AEST

No. 8 Woodsman – Bet Now: $4.00

This is a fascinating edition of the Galleywood Hurdle. Runaway is a deserving favourite and his flat form does give him an edge over the rest of this field, but he does have much experience over the jumps. Woodsman bolted in to win by four and a half lengths at Warrnambool in his most recent start over the jumps and he tuned up nicely for this race with a strong effort in the Terang Cup. He represents genuine value at his current quote.
