Race 2             No.9    STOCK UP

Race 5             No.6    SEAWAY

Race 1

7 – 1 – 2 – 3

The betting suggests there are four winning chances with nothing between them in the market. I have settled on the Godolphin filly GODODDIN who has shown good ability at both her career starts. Her latest run she had no luck early after copping a bump forcing her to settle a mile back before she found the line nicely to be beaten only five lengths. The extra further today and with the run under her belt she will take some beating. Charge did enough first up behind Gem Song suggesting she will strip fitter here and from the good settle is likely to settle handy and give a kick. Federation looks the leader to my eye and with two solid runs under his belt he will give the others plenty to chase.

Race 2

9 – 5 – 7 – 10

STOCK UP has been building towards a win with three very good career efforts including a last start second at Rosehill over 1200m when she kept finding the line. The extra 100m and what looks a genuine tempo she looks to get her chance to secure that maiden victory. Deft is on debut but looks ready with two trials this time around plus a few last year. Her latest trial against some older horses was full of merit where she travelled sweetly and looked like she had something in reserve. Luskintyre Lass was solid on debut when she travelled in behind the speed but from a wider gate today I expect she will roll and probably lead and give a big kick.

Race 3

1 – 5 – 6 – 7

I found this a tricky assignment but I have come back to the top one REVENIRE who got the job done first up in good fashion at Hawkesbury and from barrier one today he should get a nice economical run. He is two duck eggs from two second up runs which is a concern but James Cummings has given him three weeks since that effort to help him along. Warranty is the query for me as he has been freshen up with a two month break and is dropping back to 1100m which has always looked short of his best. I suggest the betting may well tell the story with this girl so watch carefully. Excelling will need luck from the outside gate but he is a handy galloper so keep safe.

Race 4

3 – 1 – 2 – 4

Midweek benchmark races over the staying trip seem to have a different winner every time and are tricky to find the winner. I have settled on ONLY TIGER who has only won once from his eight starts but gee he has been ultra consistent of late and to my eye he looks as though he will relish the mile and a half. Bon Equus has a big weight but he is tough and against this bunch he deserves the impost and having drawn a soft barrier he is sure to be there at the business end. Hoof Hustler is an out and out stayer and improved sharply when stepped up from the mile to 2000m last start so the extra 400m here is another bonus for him. Bowman and Waller are a handy combination so he deserves plenty of respect.

Race 5

6 – 2 – 4 – 8

The speed map looks thin on the ground with real designated leaders so I think Reiby Rampart may well roll to the front and she must be given a hope if allowed to dictate. Multifacets was ridden more aggressive last start early to settle second and he got the job done albeit it was over 1900 so with the lack of speed here maybe he can go forward again even at the shorter journey. I’ve settle on SEAWAY who didn’t have a lot of luck first up when seventh but with the step up from 1300m to 1550m and a soft barrier I am hoping he can do no work through the run then use his turn of speed and round them up. Last preparation he has a win over last Saturday Melbourne winner Savacool over today distance.

Race 6

8 – 5 – 7 – 3

SCHUBERT resumed and turned in a terrific effort winning at Hawkesbury when he looked as though he still had plenty of room for improvement. James Cummings has given him three weeks to recover from that effort and turns up here is a race not that much stronger so he looks the one to beat. Bravissimo was collared in the final inch last start at Rosehill after scooting clear on straightening so coming back 100m will play into his hands if he can find the front. Awoke has drawn tricky but she races well fresh and can dash if the luck falls her way.

Race 7

1 – 4 – 7 – 9

The favourite I Am Poppy was creditable in her Australian debut three weeks ago when leading and battling away for third beaten only a half length. She drops 4 kilos and comes back a 100m and will be hard to beat but she seems short odds at this stage. I’ve gone with some value with the toppy REALISE POTENTIAL who will lump 60.5kg but I was taken with his recent barrier trial when finding the line under a nice hold. The speed looks solid so hopefully he can slot in perhaps third or fourth and he will give a big sight.
