BEST BETS:

Race 7             Number 12     Call Me Handsome

Race 8             Number 3       Trap For Fools

Race 1

SANGLIER looks well placed back here in Melbourne from gate one when I imagine he will get a nice run and I just hope a run comes when he needs it. His run in Adelaide was good but he just needed a little more running room and he just looked a fraction awkward. All in Brawl was impressive on debut albeit on the Geelong synthetic while Divine Mr Tycoon has impressed at both his career runs and he looks to get the perfect sit here.

1 – 4 – 3 – 7

Race 2

The Miles Of Krishan race at Flemington two weeks ago looks the right form line for me coming in here. She will be again be hard to toss but I think MA JONES can turn the tables especially coming back a 100m and the latest run bringing her right up to the mark. Naantali can’t be left out after winning in style at Flemington and the extra furlong here looks right up her alley.

3 – 1 – 6 – 8

Race 3

CAUSEWAY GIRL looked the goods when winning on debut at Murtoa and from an ideal gate here and Damien Oliver aboard she should jump and be prominent throughout and be hard to hold out. Belzella from the Tony McEvoy stable that is flying and she comes here after an effortless win at Balaklava when $1.24 favourite. Multaja was very good winning on debut at Werribee and Pippie another who created a big impression winning by a big space at Cranbourne on debut.

8 – 4 – 11 – 10

Race 4

OBERLAND is drawn poorly but at the flying 1000m I don’t think that is bad for this gelding who will have room to move and if he finds his best form he can round these up[. He swill strip fitter and with a good speed look for him coming hard and fast late. You’ve Been Had drops back in distance and grade but even with 60kg he can play a role here. Plateau Gold will jump and run and may not be caught while Saxophone from a soft draw may find leaders back and that gives him a knockout chance.

1 – 4 – 10 – 2

Race 5

Really keen to bet here as I think my top two selections stand out from the rest of the field. STREETS OF AVALON is racing in good vain and only needs to repeat his last start second to Al Passem at Flemington and he will hard to beat. He rolls forward and makes his own and with Zac Spain’s claim he only goes up 2.5kg and drops in grade. Palmateer has really grabbed the bit since arriving in Melbourne and was very impressive winning at Sandown last start. From a nice gate here if she holds a spot in the first five or six she will take some beating.

5 – 15 – 2 – 11

Race 6

The top four in the market look the obvious and I think there is a case to be made for each. THUNDER CLOUD has been to the Valley once before and came from a mile back in a cracking performance and from a nice gate here he should get the right run. He goes up 4.5kg from his last start third at Flemington but drops from a benchmark 90 back to a BM78. Pioneertown won at Sandown last start in a strong effort with Streetcar To Stars ran second and will improve with that run being his first in almost four years. Big Hammer ran third and can easily be in the mix again.

1 – 4 – 8 – 2

Race 7

CALL ME HANDSOME gets his chance to win following three cracking runs this preparation and from barrier one he will get a nice run and with the step up to the mile his turn of speed will be handy. Another Coldie goes up sharply in grade but comes back in weight and as often is the way when a Darren Weir galloper starts to go through the grades they are hard to stop.

12 – 11 – 5 – 1

Race 8

The former West Aussie TRAP FOR FOOLS has been progressing in good order since joining the Jarrod McLean stable this preparation. He was only gunned down by a horse heading upwards in Sixties Groove and if he is able to find the front here he will take a power of running down. Morton’s Fork ran just behind him last start and can again run well here while Pacodali was able to beat Sixties Groove back in June so he must be respected.

3 – 2 – 1 – 4

Race 9

Looks a hard race to finish the day with many chances but I have finally settled on PRINCETON SPIRIT with Beau Mertens to steer. He will jump and run and be handy throughout and hopefully have enough in reserve to hold them at bay. He should appreciate coming back from listed grade and to a track and distance he loves having won here over the 1200m twice previously. Nordic Empire gets the gun run and is a winner here on three previous occasions so he must be included. Sharpness is flying and will be strong late if they overdo it upfront while Wise Hero is another who will strip fitter and be coming hard late.

3 – 7 – 6 – 4
