Race 1: 3-5-4-7
SUNDABARANS ($14 into $12) was solid here a fortnight ago and think the step to 1200m ideal now. Respect METRONOME who was $11 on debut showing pace and has the 1200m experience. GHEEDA gets blinkers for winkers, no excuses Sandown 1200m 2nd up. ROOBEENA (winkers) was good in strong Flemington straight race. ALL TOO HANDY comes through same race as Gheeda and had little luck.
SUGGESTED: Even batch, leaning SUNDABARANS.
Race 2: 6-2-1-3
DIVINE COMMAND was unlucky not to win here last week (you may have seen the jockey trolling etc) re Riordan’s ride but they can atone here. CEYLON has made good progression this preparation and doubt the 2040m will pose a problem. ASTARA has been consistent without winning for Kent but now gets to 2040m. ONE FOR LATER is better placed here than Caulfield 2400m trying to lead all the way. Flem 2000m win prior (100-1) was no fluke.
SUGGESTED: Give Liam Riordan a tweet when DIVIND COMMAND wins.
Race 3: 4-6-8-10
Good competitive 3YO race here but like the BADUZZI form – chased the controlling Summer Sham here last time and of course it won a G2 last Saturday. Drawn to advantage (I hope). BRANKSOME CHIMES just missed at the 1000m here a few weeks back, reckon the different tempo of a 1200m will suit. BOWERMAN showed pace (has a few friends here for that) resuming on a firm Sandown 1st up. MAWZOONA comes through the Summer Sham race also, that race got a bit messy for it.
SUGGESTED: BADUZZI on top in competitive race.
Race 4: 10-5-2-11
All the early betting action (and probably form) points you to MONTASER (was $2.45 into 2.15 in 1st markets). Out to 1600m won’t be a problem. If there is a danger it is PERUGGIA who deserved break through win this preparation at this track at the 1600m 3 weeks ago. GREVISTE is honest, place claims again, SEUL SPIRIT is racing well at the end of a long preparation. Some place hope also.
SUGGESTED: MONTASER to win, save on the quinella PERUGGIA.
Race 5: 6-5-4-1
Good race to start quaddie with three hopes to make real claims for. In order tipping SPRIGHTLY LASS, a 100m winner here and only defeat (2nd) was narrowly on a heavy 8. Has speed but resumes. MATTY who is unbeaten 3 runs 1000m inc one here, clear (only danger) b it’s the one who takes the drop.
SUGGESTED: Going SPRIGHTLY LASS but take the pair in quaddie.
Race 6: 5-1-4-9
If only connections had stayed at the Friday night meeting than run MIDAS MAN at Flemington the following day running 2nd to all the way winner The Mighty Jrod. Was $10 to $7.50 but comes back to the final of this series with the right form. Was $26 into $17 when won its 2040m lead-up and can’t see the 2500m any problem. Looks like a target race for value runner KHEZERABAD who has had the 2500m run here (only 3rd run back) and no trouble with trip. DIAMOND GRACE is only 3rd up and profiles like an emerging Mick Kent stayer of some substance. Hard to beat. RAINDROPS ON ROSES competitive all through campaign, just not enough wins – yet.
SUGGESTED: Backing MIDAS MAN.
Race 7: 6-9-5-10
Good race but at the odds going SEPTAMORE, who was beaten by HAY BALE at the 1000m last and think the 1200m is more advantage to a fitter Septamore. PETITE’S REWARD was beaten by SAVAJU here then beat it home. I think they both are well placed and luck in running difference between them. SISTER KITTY MAC has been burning around the 955’s last 2 runs but well placed with claim and different tempo at 1200m.
SUGGESTED: SEPTAMORE ($14) is over the odds.
Race 8: 11-6-8-4
Weiry will win the last – which one punters: SCOLARIO gets good run, maintaining good form through a longish campaign and should get good run in track with more give than Sandown. Has the blinkers again. REILMARTINI was a $6.50 chance on debut when it won a maiden on the home track – looked good. PATIENT is the on-speed runner who’ll make own luck.
SUGGESTED: Leaning SCOLARIO with the gear change.
